The Magic need a PR guy that just surfs the web, reads twitter, and lurks on message boards. Unacceptable to let our franchise get played in the media because of Fegan and Dwight.

Serves the Magic right for, once again, hiring a rookie GM with no experience. Martins and the DeVos family knew this was possibly the most important summer in the franchise’s history, and to hire a 30-year-old rookie GM to navigate it shows how ignorant they are. This is big-boy negotiating, and I hate to say it, but I don’t think Hennigan knows what the hell he’s doing. I’m glad a lot of you guys have blind faith in him (despite his complete lack of a track record), but I think this is going to get even uglier.

I agree. He got bushwhacked and he probably doesn't even realize it. Let's hope he learns quickly. The Magic are in a tough situation and having a neophyte GM makes it tougher.

Good god, some of you people sound like teenage girls who just saw their boyfriend talking to a cheerleader...

1) If we want the Brooklyn deal, it will be there at the deadline. There was no reason to bite on that deal before we had to. Good move by Hennigan.

2) None of us really know what was offered by Houston. We are / were just assuming that they would offer K-Mart, the Toronto pick and their rookies. The question however, is how many bad contracts could they take back? That was an unknown variable until recently as they were waiting for decisions on Lin and Asik. Making a deal of draft night would be been too early as multiple teams were still scrambling for pieces. But Hennigan was smart to wait on a Houston deal. If Chicago matched Asik, we could have pawned off another piece. That ended up not being the case, but he was right to wait. There is nothing stopping us from still making a deal with Houston.

3) I never had any interest in Bynum, so I won't go in to details about the Lakers but surely they would still answer the phone and at least listen should Orlando call.

...so explain to me again how anything has changed due to this meeting? Coaches, GMs and owners meet with players often to talk through differences. Who said that Hennigan had to have his master plan set and agreed upon by all participating parties by July 25th? Should he have not spoken to Dwight at all until such a plan was formed? Are you saying that cutting Dwight off for weeks would have helped the situation?

LMFAO at the FOOLS who think Hennigan doesn't know what's he's doing, and yet THEY do. A 30 year old who climbed the NBA executive ladder as fast as he did doesn't happen by chance. Morons.

Stop the nonsense about teenage girls! If you don't agree, that's fine. Why the childish analogy? This meeting yesterday WAS NOT good for the Magic or their efforts to trade Howard. It was Fegan using it as a PR tool to bludgeon Hennigan and the Magic organization. Howard's antics can not be impressing other GM's who might be interested. Is it ok to "speculate" in a "speculation" thread? Although I do not think it is speculation to state that the Magic did not do themselves any favors yesterday.

Anybody else feel this way?

Dickie V drives me crazy, but I appreciate how he came out and said this. I'll give him this: the guy is a basketball purist and recognizes when things are headed downhill. Good for him.

Nothing changed yesterday.

2 days ago: D12 was not signing with the Magic, but only the Nets and likely LA.
Today: D12 was not signing with the Magic, but only the Nets and likely LA.

ESPN has us 28th in power rankings.

We have average players and rookies in our 1-9.

We are in the loaded Western Conference.

Again, trading for Howard 2/3s of the way through the season makes zero sense for Houston.

We will be far far out of the playoffs.

I will agree that it would make zero sense for you guys to trade for Dwight once the season starts.

Is that the same ladder Otis Smith climbed? We are fools and morons because we question some of his moves but you aren't because you "assume" he knows what he is doing? Ok, we will go with that!

That was not an assault on a board members opinion. And it IS my opinion that things DID change. If you can't deal with that opinion, that is your problem. It is shared by others. You have been an apologist for the front office all along. And that's fine. I don't happen to agree.

That is basically it. GMs do not read message boards for their information. They talk to people close to the players, their agents, or the players themselves. Nothing has changed. Our leverage doesn't go down until training camp arrives.

Why do I have to "deal" with your opinion anyway?

BTW - if others shared the opinion that the image (which was an assault on the Magic organization) was boorish, would that you change your opinion of it?

bigmoe1952 wrote:You have been an apologist for the front office all along. And that's fine. I don't happen to agree.

That, to me, just shows how short sighted your opinion is.

Although not even probably a possibility, he runs down how a 20 player trade with Houston is still possible. I believe VGOSWAMI posted a similar trade.
