I highly doubt the Rays will ever trade with us. Since were divisional rival and all.

I also would be shocked if they dealt with us.
By the by, is anyone having a weirder season peripherals-wise than Davis? Granted, it could be just the small sample, but last year he had one of the lowest K/9 rates in baseball...this year he's posting a rate well in excess of what he managed at any point in the minors, never mind the majors.

i disagree, he's a former starter, working long relief under great control till 2017. he's not a star player so trading in the division isn't an excuse. if it works for both teams, I think they'd do it.
thames + another player for davis.
id do it

The way I see it, why would i help my divisional rival get better or why would they try to help us get better ?

I can only think of Colby Lewis during the month of May:
K/9—BB/9—K/BB—HR/9
8.27—1.38—6.00—2.76

your under the assumption its going to be a one-sided deal favoring the jays. the rays are stacked with pitching and bj upton is gonna be a free agent and the rays are gonna let him walk. i'm sure they're looking for bats.

Doing it because he's been converted to reliever, where he does not have to worry about conserving energy and just throw harder. You convert him back to starter and chances are he reverts back to the low strikeout pitcher we saw in years previous.
Either way a trade is unlikely to be consummated - trades rarely happen between teams in the same division.

Re: Wade Davis should be on the Jays radar
I was looking at Wade in the offseason and what struck me in his numbers was how he was almost identical to Hellickson, except for that changeup (which is admittedly a very large difference). So I'd be interested in Davis for sure, but there's no way TB sends him in division, because there's no need.
To make Friedman do it, you'd have to give him excellent value, meaning you'd eat it in the end barring some bad prospect luck afterwards. If an AA offer was anywhere close to a NL or even another AL non-division team, he'll send it there rather than strengthen the Jays. And if you think Thames +1 (barring +1 being D'Arnaud or similar) gets it done, that's crazy. Surely there's an NL team willing to give up a AAAA type and a prospect for a guy who could probably be a mid-rotation type in the crap that is the NL.
