Someone is going to get injured. Who is going to step in and step up?
Players are going to get opportunities to prove themselves no matter how the minutes are initially divvied up. They may have to wait, but an 82-game season is long. But that's the inference when you label someone a "pro". Professionalism has to come into play at some point, otherwise you're just enabling young players who are already experiencing an extended adolescence by becoming millionaires at 20 years old.
Some on this board are talking as if Burks' Jazz career is already down the **** because of this signing. I don't buy it.

Having no more than 7 million committed to salary next year, while surrounding our young guys with veteran talent sounds like a pretty damn good spot to be in. But I think we all know that no matter what the Jazz did/do you aren't going to be happy unless it cripples our capspace and demands a trade two years later.
I wrote a mini essay on viable scenarios and reinterated my thoughs multiple times in previous threads yet I refuse to write anymore since people have oviously skipped over it and instead only focus on something I said that in their eyes is "egregious" which is fine and I have grown to accept. I'll can find it or summerize it later if anyone is actually interested.
BTW I was estatic about Kevin Murphy and the talks of going after courtney Lee with the trade exception while still have a good amount of the exception left for taking on another player made me all warm and fuzzy inside. Then we traded for mo and that went away.

Comparing Burks to Deron isn't quite apples to apples. Deron showed signs early. We all knew he had it. We all have doubts about Burks. Sloan did a massive disservice to the Jazz by playing McPalacio, but Burks needs to earn it.
