We just drafted THE NBA All-star two-guard in the East

Post#1 » by Terpman » Thu Jul 26, 2012 3:21 am

I think John Wall and Brad Beal are going to be straight butter money! Our backcourt is about to ABUSE the lesser tandems of the NBA.
The defensive ability of this basketball team is just staggering considering where we were 2 years ago.
Get ready for some fun my fellow WizBullets fans. You're about to see something special happen in Washington DC. Once Brad Beal and John Wall figure out what I can see clear as a bell - their games are completely symbiotic with each other. Wall was MADE to play PG with a scorer like Beal. Beal was made to shoot 3's and drive to the bucket on collapsed defenses crumbled by Wall's speed attacks to the basket. I think Beal could score 20+ as a rookie if they turned those fellas loose, but they'll probably be smart and ease him in by letting Crawford start day one & then open season on the starting job - say on....game 2.
This backcourt is potentially an all-time great tandem.
Go prove me right fellas.
We are the Washington BULLETS!

While I'm an outsider and only here for the Blatche input (thanks guys), I do think this can be an AMAZING backcourt for years to come if a few things happen:

1. Both guys accept each other abilities from the get go and learn to feed off of each other the way Lebron and Wade did during the playoffs this year.

2. Wall doesn't get injured with a DRose type injury that could effect the rest of his career. He's the explosive-type PG that I can see this happening to, but ofc I pray it never would.

3. Beal proves he can be more consistent than hot/cold... meaning you would hope to get a solid 16-22 points each game out of him rather than a 38 point game performance followed by a streaky shooting night resulting in a 2-13, 7 point performance. This happened on occasion with Anthony Morrow last season on the Nets.

With all this said, they're still going to have a lot to learn from guys like DWill and JJ ;)

Well, in fairness, we took Mike Pence off their hands. Taking back Mahinmi is the least they can do.

Did you steal it from the Knicks' board about D'Antoni?

every year he pops the seal of another canister, and out pours that season's roster, the ones at the end already crumbling a little

So many good tandems though. Wade + ray Allen possibly, joe Johnson and deron, Kyrie and waiters, Manu and Parker, Kobe and Nash, Westbrook and harden, jrue and turner, Lowry and derozen if he plays the two, Lin and lamb and k mart, Chris Paul ad chauncey.

I think the guard contest will be most interesting this year. As for all star the two guard position is weak I agree in the east. But with wade and joe Johnson there it might take a while to get in. New blood is also coming in and a lot of spillover when selecting guards from the point guard position who need to be recognized. Beal does get a lot of respect in him playing the right way. He doesn't have to be an all star for me, just an all star calibre player

The Washington Wizards will be more than happy with Bradley Beal in time. He may even emerge as the biggest star of his draft class.

How soon he looks the part is less certain, though.

The 19-year-old was plenty productive during his five Summer League games (17.6 points per game), but he only shot 42 percent from the field. That efficiency could improve when he's less depended upon to be the featured scorer, but there's also a very real possibility that it takes him some time to translate his impressive talent to the NBA game.

The Wizards' much-improved depth could also mean Beal remains more of a complementary player for now, even if he's destined to take on a starring role eventually.

Nash and Kobe is an all-time great backcourt even if they only have a 1-2 season shelf life.

i do hope that we have the makings of a westbrook/harden here though. wall is a more capable passer than westbrook and for all of harden's newfound efficiency, it remains to be proven if if he can sustain it as a full-time starter, play off-ball, or lock it down on D.

Beal we will see in time. Lets get a first NBA game for him before we start making judgments.

Harden can already play off ball.

Gotta love Parker and Ginobli.

Nash and almost anyone is a great combo, but Steve would probably be better helped by pairing him with a solid offensive big than another high useage guard. Prime Nash with prime pau would have been a great combo.

In the East, I don't really like Kyrie and Waiters. Waiters is very ball dominant and undersized. I know the consensus is that Summer League doesn't matter, but if your game is predicated on getting to the rim, if you are as good as advertised, you should be able to get to the rack in summer league play.

Ok, now I'm going to sound like Zards -- why don't we wait until he puts on a uniform and plays in a real game... and just see how it works out?

Can't you say the same for the people that are hyping him up? I know it sounds like I'm ragging on him, but "the ability to average 20+ ppg as a rookie" is a little too much praise don't you think?
