i do. my question was serious. im trying to figure it out but having a little trouble.

For every Jazz fan saying "Top 4" there's probably a Nugget fan saying "Top 3". Most Jazz fans put us in 6-8. And you'd be pissed if Nuggets were being placed bottom 3 in the conference.

Far too frequent issue to ignore.

...they were two games behind Denver at the end of the year. We have a younger team with a rookie coach who still hasn't had an offseason.

What is it that makes Denver a 'playoff lock' and Utah a 'lotto lock'?

Last season, without any kind of chemistry, and with an out of form Dirk, we were battling for the 3rd seed until that disastrous series of games. Dallas more often than not finishes in the top 4, i don't know why you think that's some kind of homer statement. With Dirk, you have an automatic 46-48 win team, regardless of the roster. I think 3 or 4 team will battle it out for that 2nd spot, and yes, if they can build some chemistry, the Mavs can definitely be one of them. I'm not saying i would bet on it, i'm saying it wouldn't shock me, and i can see them as high as 2nd, because they have a talented, deep roster.

2 games in a shortened season. we are young as well (young enough that its not a factor at all).

i never called denver a playoff lock. or utah a lotto lock. (i only said utah fans are homers - that i am guilty of)

was there anything in your post correct?

the old dallas team used to get top 4 all the time. no question there.

but they arent finishing top 2. nor winning a title.

keep homering it up. its the offseason - the time homers live for.

Yeah right. All fan bases have homers. I find it hard to believe you have a Sauron eye over every single fan. Or even a majority of fans. So your categorical denial really means nothing.

Really so if these predictions had Nuggets in lotto 90% of time you wouldn't object? Or argue on behalf of your team?

Here's a better way for me to put it.

Teams are in no particular order, just a tier of how high I think they can get. Example, the first tier has the Lakers, Spurs and Thunder, meaning those teams will probably be the 1, 2, and 3 seeds-- just not in any particular order. Then the next tier, 4-7 has teams that will most likely land 4-7-- just not in any particular order, etc.

1-3 Tier:
Lakers, Spurs, Thunder

4-7 Tier:
Nuggets, Jazz, Grizzlies, Clippers

8-11 Tier:
Mavs, Wolves, Blazers, Golden State

12-15 Tier:
Suns, Rockets, Kings, Hornets
Jazz on your face.

This was directed at the thread as a whole, not just you.

I'm not accusing you of saying anything-- I'm just wondering why people tend to be thinking this (as shown by reading these lists.)

You're so abrasive in every topic I see you in.

no. i would question the logic but not the seed. if you (or anyone) puts denver at 12th for example, does that increase or decrease the chances denver gets 12th?

well you replied to me so i wasnt sure.

im not abrasive but when i tell people what they dont want to hear (anti-homer) they take it as abrasive. like i said, its the offseason, a magical time when homers run free and spew all sorts of sillyness hoping that some how it makes their hopes and wishes more likely to come true!

Im not a Jazz fan and I think they should be a playoff team this year. They made what appear to be minor changes but their roster is much more balanced and they dont have Devin Harris playing pg anymore. If they get the expected improvements from Favors,Kanter,Hayward, Burks they will be improved. Milsap and Jefferson are playing for contracts so they should be motivated to be in shape and be productive.

I'm not sure what you're saying here. Same with anyone ranking anyone anywhere? Obviously these predictions are a pointless offseason exercise for bored/desperate basketball fans. Everything will work itself on the court over the course of the season.

i meant that if someone put denver 12th because, for example, "they have no depth" then i would say "yes we do!" but not care about 12th.

im pretty sure we have depth. but we could finish 12th.

Tis quite a magical time. I'm a homer, through and through, but I still try to be a little objective. Honestly, the only post that blew my mind was the one that had Utah at like, 13, below the Hornets.

what ive learned so far is that 14 of 15 western teams have improved. i see each winning 5-10 more games. jazz at least 20.
