Source: Dodgers have acquired Hanley Ramirez and Choate from Marlins for Eovaldi and a minor leaguer. Game changes in LA. Marlins selling.

Who saw that coming? Well I do wonder what number Hanley will be wearing. It won't be 2 because of Lasorda, won't be 20 because of Sutton. Is 22 available?

Being a Marlins fan must be horrendous. They finally get a new stadium, they increase payroll, then midway through they start trading guys. It's unbelievable. It's like the owner is waving the finger at his fanbase.

It's not 2008-2009. Hanley put up 1.3 WAR last year and 1.4 WAR so far this season. He's not a superstar anymore and the Dodgers are paying his large salary.

I'm not saying this is a big win by Miami, but it's not an awful trade. The $15 million in budget space they can spend and a very cheap rotation piece with upside are valuable. There's a good chance they can spend that freed money on a better player in free agency.

Ramirez has put up a .333 and .322 OBP with horrible defense for the last two seasons. Why does everyone still treat him like he's great?

eh, the fact that the team spent a ton of money on players and the fans have only sold out the home opener in a brand new stadium leaves little room for sympathy from me. one sellout in a brand new stadium, crazy.

That pitcher's theme park has a terrible design. I wouldn't want to watch a baseball game in it.

I haven't gone to a game there yet, but all of the Marlins fans that I know that I actually trust say that the place is basically a circus tent.

As for the trade, I think the Marlins actually got the good end of it. Ozzie has been saying that the clubhouse has been going downhill since Day 1 and Hanley has been the biggest reason.

Marlins just love having fire sales, don't they?

I visited Miami in April and saw a game at the park. It's a nice place to visit once, but I think if I went again the gimmicks (bobblehaead museum, bright green outfield walls) would wear off. Parking is horrible there and the stadium looks very out of place in Little Havana.

If Hanley really was the problem in the clubhouse, then that means we were being lied to when he and Reyes were acting like bros.
