Given his playing time, he did OK against a veteran-laden team like Argentina. Dont understand why he didnt get more minutes when they were down so much in the 2nd half though.
Organization can be defined as an organized body of people with a particular purpose. Not random.

He should have played more but he did have 3 fouls in 13 minutes, I doubt he would have made it to 20 minutes without fouling out.

there is more hype about jonas' arrival in toronto than anthony davis' arrival in new orleans. i hate to break it to everyone- the kid is foul prone, possesses a non existent back to the basket game, cant defend bigger players and everyone will be bigger than him in the nba. "unmet expectations" is what i will call jonas after his rookie season.

Lol typical Raptor board...Jonas V played in his first Olympic game and it went okay....give the guy a break !! This will be a great learning experience for him.

I'll reserve my judgement once Olympic basketball is over

Name me a big who came into the NBA who was not foul prone. All rookie bigs are undersize to the usual starting lineup big in the NBA. All the Cs in the NBA started somewhere.

I will disagree here. He received his second foul in second quarter and was benched, that limited his minutes a little bit, but that was it. He sat down a good 5 minutes because he got injured 3 minutes into third quarter, and his third foul came late in the game. Fouling didnt played a huge role in this, and fouls itself were not chronic. His first foul was a stupid, Valanciunesque foul, but his second foul was intentional, to stop a lay up. And his third foul, as I said came late and it was a very shady call.

an n OT note, I watched the game streaming on BBC today via WiTopia. The BBC camera men were all over the dozen or so attractive blonde Lithuanian fans. Hilarious.

ctv feed was as well. was very nice.

BBC feed, CTV feed, I'm out west this week and all I could find was a SportsNet1 feed and it was total BS. Only showing the last 5 minutes of the 3rd and 2 minutes of the 4th quarters. SportsNet, why the fcuk did you even bother airing it? A big FU to you SportsNet. I guess I'm going to have to search for those other feeds for the next game.

So what? Let him foul out. This unwritten 2 fouls and you sit rule is total BS. Can't stand it here, can't stand it in the NBA.

The only players you need to sit are your stars, and only if they get to 4 fouls. Yeah, an over simplification, but you get my meaning.

Yeah, I don't think he was in foul trouble in the second half. He only played 3 mins in the 3rd quarter while still only having 2 fouls.

Well if he can't play at least average defense in the minutes he gets, then he won't last long in Casey's rotation.
Originated from the nethermost, currently however, our entire squadron is now hither.

Jonas gets overancious and commits fouls but he learns quickly and god only knows he needs some proper coaching and a decent PG to give him the ball. Amir still has a problem getting stupid fouls and I think after training camp he will have improved.

Anyone that can't see that that is fooling themselves???

Not only are you delusional in your ball assessments of players, but now you are starting to believe that your eye is so highly sophisticated in assessing players, that you trump actual logic.

Spare us your rhetoric with Val. After paying attention to your posts for a few months, I not only realize you haven't a clue on most of your assessments, you are actually so far off, that I would go in the opposite of any assessment you make, as it has a better chance of occurring.

Yeah I agree with this. Sometimes it's better to let them play and hope for the best. How much benefit is sitting someone? They can't help the team from the bench. In Lithuania's case it made even less sense since their only hope was to use their starting C - who had 3 inches on anyone else in the game and has a great finishing touch around the basket - as the focal point of their (otherwise terrible) offense. Fat chance of that happening though.

Fact is though that the Argentinians are a very good team. Watching them I kept thinking about how much the way they play reminds me of the way the Argentinian soccer team plays. Same sort of creativity, intensity, sneakiness and toughness. Scola and Ginboli feed off each other's style and it is pretty potent stuff.

Curious to know if you think Meyers Leonard also be considered the same way?

For once I agree with you on that. Even Jonas said that he wants to be dominant at his position in 5 years. I also believe that is was one of the main reason why BC never picked Drummond. Jonas is going to take time to develop and if it takes 5 years just to get Jonas to reach a high level of play how long with it take Drummond? We can't give them enough minutes to help them develop their games. My expectations have been tempered for Jonas. We probably won't see some results until his second year and more into his third year.

So long as I see some major flashes of potential to keep me excited this year, I'll be fine with that!

That's all I'm looking for also. Once Jonas starts producing to the point of being dominant at his position then we can say we have a franchise center for the next decade.
