Actually fanbase is (was) somewhat right.
They had issues in the past. When DWill was drafted, AK was THE man on the team.
DWill started to fight for the leadership position in the locker room and on the court. After a bit of a struggle - he won. In the situation like this pointguards are always in a better position since they choose who to pass to, not to mention Sloan still had visions of Stockton-Malone combo in his head. AK ended up on the side of the road. (standing in the corner, waiting for the ball that never came).
In the later Utah years AK and DWill fixed the relationship, after they realized that they need to work together for the Jazz benefit. But it was a bit too late, and DWill was shipped to NJ shortly thereafter.

And don't ask me for sources. :)

It was a bit apparent after one of the playoff losses when D-Will was being interviewed. He mentioned something about the other teammates already made vacation plans, yet if they won they wouldn't have been able to go on vacation. So he was stating that his teammate were playing to lose sort a speak. and he wasn't happy about it. It then came out later that it was AK.

Cool picture though, good of them. Glad they made up, and fixed things.

Does anyone else realize that it's a job and not a soap opera? Aren't there people at your job you like as people and think you don't work well together?

It's a little weird to be a Jazz fan right now. With AK we knew he was our star, and the Jazz were committed to him long term. Same thing with Deron. Aside from his rookie benching (which sucked), the fans and the organization were on the same page. He was the identity of the team.

Now we're stuck between cheering for our current best players or our future best players, which is incredibly awkward, especially at positions 4 and 5. Only two of those four guys can really succeed. The other two will be looked at as disappointments. Do we choose to root for Favors at Millsap's expense? Or do we tell ourselves that Kanter is not ready, and it's a good thing that Jefferson is here for one more season? Extending either of the veterans (at the price they're worth) probably means that Kanter will never be able to live up to the expectations of a third pick while he's with Utah.

For me this is the reason I'm not as attached to any current Jazz player as I was to Deron and AK. I know we're in pretty good shape as a team, but the emotional bond with any particular player just isn't there yet.

I never think we want AK and never miss now!!! It gave me uncomfort to see fans miss AK. I know he never make Jazz good in last years. we never win champion AK, I know with Favors. I say it three years one year in march.

We need to cheer these guys. Do you think the current players think that you booing the guy you said you loved 2 years ago with out good reason shows you support them 100%? No, it says you are two faced and don't really give a crap about the actual players.

I donno; I think they get that it's a business. We all remember Deron's "this is why I signed a three-year deal" comments. He certainly didn't leave the fans feeling warm and fuzzy.

I'll always love AK. I didn't care for Deron, though he's obviously a phenomenal player. I think I'd probably give them both a polite golf clap when the starting lineups were announced, but I don't think it's a terrible thing to boo them. I also don't think our current players would think that deeply about it. It probably just adds to the home court advantage atmosphere for them.

I would love one! You're not in the D.C. Metro Area, by chance, are you?
