If Not Howard or Bynum Then Who????????

Post#1 » by Anklebreaker702 » Tue Jul 31, 2012 7:12 am

It seems to me that with the excitement about a looming trade for D12 everyone is waiting on pins & needles.

Here is my question though. If no Howard then who? Bynum is seemingly trashed here very badly & down graded on a daily basis. For the guys who don't like Bynum for what ever reason, injuries, laziness or what have you, you rarely see on our board he is the second best Center in the game today.

So this is why those of us that aren't spilling seed for Howard can look at the situation calmly. Yes Howard is an upgrade over Bynum, that has been established, but the main question is if no D12 who else??? See for me if no D12 i'm fine with Drew. No he's not perfect & he has a lot of flaws but some here act like he's the second coming of Granville Waiters & i'm just not buying it.

So if Bynum is such garbage as most would like to put it here, then tell me who would you plug in at the Center position besides 12 over Bynum!?

Mark Madsen.

That man knows how to properly put the finishing touch on championships.
He's got that killer instinct.
He's got the moves.
It's obvious.

With Kobe, Gasol, and Nash, we really don't need anymore offense from our Center, especially when our Center's main scoring output comes from ISOs in the post. With teams like OKC and Miami just straight up running us out of the gym, we need someone who will run the floor and guard the paint for us. Bynum just isn't that guy. He CAN be, but he's just too lazy and too inconsistent in that regard, which is why it might be better to trade him to win NOW because

1. Gasol becomes much more effective when Bynum isn't on the floor
2. Bynum is EASILY our best trade asset right now and we can fix all our problems by trading him.

adding Melo would only guarantee more disfunctionality especially when you combine him with Nash and Kobe. I see that as a downgrade in terms of wins.

Also there isn't much that Nash can do with no post moves chandler except throw lobs.

In light of the princeton offense making Pau at Center a no brainer.. If Dwight gets traded elsewhere, we need to offer Bynum, McRoberts, Blake for Love, Pek, Barea

Barbosa sucks & what the hell would we want with another ball demanding scorer in Melo? Chandler gives you defense & rebounding but last I checked Bynum averaged more rebounds & if I'm not mistaken more blocked shots. Chandler = no offense at all combined with stupid techs

Still doesn't answer the question. So basically just as I thought with all the negative comments, the only guy you guys can come up with that's better is Howard. As lazy & any other negative adjectives you want to call Drew, he still averaged 18+ & 13 second only to Howard at the position.

So my next question is, how do you put up those numbers by being sooooooo lazy & soooooo sorry? All the while not being the #1 option?

There isn't anybody else. I would rather have either one of the top 2 centers in the league than anyone else that the Lakers front office could realistically trade Bynum for at this point.

Exactly. This is why I created this thread to see who would answer realistically. So many guys here trash Bynum but when you say ok who else besides Howard? All you hear is crickets or some stupid unrealistic trade scenario.

I don't think you trade him unless you get Howard. He's still young, talented, and as long as he stays healthy he'll be fine. You can't teach size. It's much easier to find wings then 7' with skill. It's Howard OR Bynum.

My favorite is those who say that "Bynum doesn't work with Pau" or now "Bynum won't work with the princeton offense".

It's like these people are completely oblivious to the fact that Howard will be a even worse fit due to his lack of offensive moves in the post and his high turnover rate. Do they assume Howard is a stretch 5 and Pau will be able to work freely in the post and dominate the ball on the low block if we make the trade? No clue, but some people seem to act that way.

Bynum is a great fit for this team, he has triangle experience which is going to be needed to more quickly understand the princeton offense we'll be running. As long as we get everyone on the same page in training camp I have a feeling his passing will appear much improved as well with teammates being ready in the right spot for outlet passes off double teams.

in this offense, with nash and pau, assuming bynum agrees to resign, would you guys do:

Bynum/morris/glock/blake for Marc/tony allen/conley?

Would Memphy?

Marc/Hill/Sacre
Pau/Jamison
MWP/Ebanks/Eyenga
Kobe/T. Allen/Johnson-Odom
Nash/Conley

This question should not even been asked. People that down grade Bynum over DHo do so because DHo is better not because there is somebody better than Bynum available. Trading Bynum for somebody else would be a down grade. Nobody wants that.
