I can't wait till I get to see Jonas actually play for an extended period of time. It 's unfortunate that the LIT coach doesn't know how to utilize his players but I'm sure after Casey does his thing the national team will copy the NBA plays in time for the world championships

Imagine if Val had 4 fouls?! His coach would sit him for the rest of the game to avoid picking up his 5th. Wait, thats what he did today after he picked up his third. At this point I'm starting to wonder if Jonas re-injured his finger. I know they're winning by a large margin but he needs all of the experience he can get. Dissapointing.

Did you watch the game? Just curious since Scola didnt get a single point over Jonas in a non pnr situation.

I think his back-up was playing really well for a change, so they decided to play him. Then Songalia gets minutes for whatever reason. He's a vet, I guess. JV did his job when he was in.

Not to mention ''amnestied Scola'' is still one of the best scoring bigs in the NBA. How many points Scola scored on Jonas anyway, 4 maybe?

Who can stop those guys? He won't be guarding 4's most of the time. I like his chances against Kaman, Joel Anthony and DeAndre Jordan...just saying.

Songaila also played well 12/4 in 15 min . If Jonas wouldnt have fouled so much he would played more. Coach pulled out him after his second and third and then bum Kavaliauskas played quite well so no need was for Jonas in game though I would like to see him more playing time but it is what it is. I rather see him play in Olympics for 15 min per game then roll over everybody in Summer league like Motiejunas did.

Bargnani can't guard them PFs either. I was hoping he'll slide in and help. looks like then we have two defensive-challenged big men.

anyways i'd reserve my judgement 10 games into the NBA season. i'm just worried, Im not saying you all should.

It was alright.

There are three players who are playing C in Lithuanian squad: JV, Songaila and Kavaliauskas. JV is still too weak, Songaila is too slow. Today we saw Kavaliauskas (who is still a very underrated player) defend and play very well against strong and athletic Nigerians. Kavaliauskas & Songaila today fit much better than JV. Maybe next game Jonas will get more minutes, who knows.

I've seen Jonas move better. Maybe he's nursing another injury. Hip? Foot? Nothing?

Thats all sweet, but dont you think if you want a guy to perform, he needs to get a feel of the game. How will he get that rotting on the bench?

never seen valanciunas play, so i'm watching a replay of the game, but...

why is the crowd booing (wolf-whistling actually, but same intent) nigeria so passionately? did the nigerian players talk trash about lithuania before the game or something? what's the deal?

This is the Olympics and basketball is religion in Lithuania... the coach will do what is necessary to win rather than advertise Jonas. This is not SL where the goal is to "play Valanciunas as much as possible to make Toronto Raptors fans happy".

London is like a homecourt for Lithuanians. There are a sh*tload of emmigrants from Lithuania not to mention the Lithuanian fans/tourists. We are pretty passionate about basketball.

If the booing/whistling helps affect opponents players it's more than welcome. This is how fans are in Europe. I've watched NBA and this is one aspect I don't like about it - the fans there are way too lazy. I mean cmon, they've got the best league in the world - NBA, but also the poorest fans.

Quick question, how many fouls are you allowed in international play? 5 or 6?

and rockmanslim, I think Nigeria beat Lithuania a few weeks ago in the Olympic qualifiers.. that's why they hate them... I think. llol
