OT: London 2012 Olympic Basketball Thread

i've never understood fans like that,,, stand up ! its not that hard. if you want to sit quietly and watch the game unobstructed, I can direct you to the nearest HHGreg, they have tv's on sale all the time

I don't get it at all. If you don't want to stand up, that's fine. Just don't complain about those who are standing up. I admit, I'm kind of quiet at games. I like to sit there and really watch what is going on. I like to study the game. But I really do enjoy those fans who do get up and make noise. I stood for the whole game yesterday because I was in a block of standing Lithuanians. I couldn't see otherwise. The majority of neutral fans behind me decide to continue sitting and therefore had the view of my arse all game.

Heck, I even had one old Chinese man next to me fall asleep in his chair during the Great Britain game. It's like, what the hell are you doing here? There are loads of people who would kill to be here yet you are taking up a seat to sleep!

Shved is a baller. Him and rubio will be a treat to watch. Both are creative playmakers who do it with flair. Then they add ak47's passing to the mix? I think they'll be one of the more entertaining teams to watch.

You guys could have had a pretty damn solid Team if Bogut was healthy.. Patty Mills has been electric so far, him and Andrew would have been a nice 1-2 punch!

Also If Kyrie would have joined that would have been one hell of a team..

Shved is lighting up this tournament. Take him out of the game though and Russia could be in big trouble with very little guard play to be found elsewhere. I think they could definitely take a medal here though.

GB only took 3 guards. One of whom tore his calf a few days before the Olympics. Instead of replacing him with another guard, we didn't. That guard didn't play vs Russia but came in vs Brazil, only to walk off limping after minutes.

So now we play the rest of the tournament with 2 guards. Mostly using 1 guard at a time, with Debg at the 2, and 3 power forwards.

Stupid.

Most people including me felt Van Oostrum should have been in the squad. It's not like he would make a huge difference, but he can certainly handle the ball and offer some penetration. Our current ball handler Nate Reinking is actually a shooting guard who can really shoot. He's having to do all the ball handling so it takes him away from working off the ball and looking for his offense.

We need two guards out there at a time because the spacing with Reinking, Deng, Sulivan or Clark, Pops, and Freeland is horrendous. Considering we now only have 2 guard total, we can only really run one out at a time.

Bonsu on the perimeter is a spinmove turnover waiting to happen. Clark can't guard 3's or put the ball on the deck. Sulivan is a 3 with the footspeed and handle of a 4.

Lenzly the guard who has torn calf isn't bad. He can make threes and doesn't seem to fold under ball pressure. But he's injured and it was a huge gamble bringing him to the tournament.

A 3rd guard right now would really friggin help.

Not to mention Van Oostrum is the arguably alongside Freeland our biggest prospect for the future. He should be here developing, and it's not like he wouldn't help us in the PG department big time either.

Deng with back to back big threes. Terrible shooting game overall but picking it up late.

Poor Deng has no offensive game besides jacking up three's. I hope he can get better at shooting the three.

You're really taking this small a sample size? What about his 37% from last year?

Deng has never been a great creator, and that extends to Olympic competition.

But geez, he really can't hang on to the ball. He did have a very good defender on him, but he seemed to be getting it poked away and losing it over and over. Have to think some of that is related to his wrist.

Contrary to the beginning of last year, when he looked vibrant physically, he is also going up very weak and timid around the basket, and didn't get any calls.

He did the prior game, but I can't say it was on account of real aggressive or powerful moves.
