Jonathan Tjarks, RealGM: Kevin, do you see Emeka as a roadblock to your development?

Not watching FR/ARG, but nice to see this tweet from Michael Lee:

Michael Lee @MrMichaelLee
Kevin Seraphin with huge defensive stop (stole Ginobili's pass to Scola) & alley-oop lob layup from Tony Parker to secure victory for France
Always remember, my friend: the world will change again. And you may have to come back through everywhere you've been.

Re: Kevin Seraphin
He finally showed why I love him at this level. A great passage in the end of the 2nd QT, and a game winning action on both side.
Still got punk on rebounds and dumb fouls, but dude was a huge help on interior offense.

Re: Kevin Seraphin
Interesting analysis of KS in Olympics and his future w/ the Wizards:
http://basketball.realgm.com/article/22 ... ortunities
"Washington will pay the 30-year-old Okafor $27 million over the next two seasons to block the development of a 23-year-old who can give them production as good, if not better."
Sounds about accurate.

Nene may end-up coming off the bench for us like he is for Brazil currently. Kevin is going to get his minutes.

Re: Kevin Seraphin
Can someone explain why Turiaf starts over Seraphin?
I really wish Seraphin has what it takes to be a PF. Apparently he's lacking with the foot speed. I just feel that he can never fully be an all-star caliber player at the C spot, given his clear limitations with size.

Seraphin still plays well playing behind two less qualified players IMO in Diaw and Turriaf and is still showing some improved play.

Before taking into account injuries which will surely give KS additional minutes (assuming he's not the one who gets hurt), he's still going to get 25-30 minutes a night w/ Okafor and Nene. Okafor & Nene aren't 40 minute per game players. Also Kevin will benefit by being able to go against quality big men like them in practice every day. I don't get the problem.

Or, to be more accurate, Seraphin had a good game. Unless you also draw conclusions from the bad game he had vs. the US, don't draw conclusions from this one good game.

Re: Kevin Seraphin
^^ I still think Seraphin has a long way to go prove he can be a low post presence against the quality of defense that the US showed especially against someone like Tyson Chandler. However, I did like the fact that Seraphin utilized his athleticism against vet savvy guys like Scola. I agree that Seraphin has a long way to go but I liked how he played against Argentina which looks more like the Seraphin the Wizards saw at the end of last season.

I was just thinkin that this Olympics is really the most perfect thing ever. KS is playing very well but he's forced to get less minutes than he should and he's forced to be a reserve when he shouldnt. I had reservations of how KS would handle now being a backup for us and would he even be consistent as a 6th man but this is already preparing him for that and he's both accepting it & handling it very well.

Kevin today vs LITH: 17 minutes, 3 PF, 3 rebounds, 0 BS and 2 pts. Turiaf had 7 rebounds and 6 pts in 18 minutes

When Javale was still a Wizard, I hoped the coaching staff would at least try playing him and Kevin Seraphin together. Defensively, Kevin could cover the bigger, more physical guys who generally play C. Offensively, Kevin could have overpowered most PFs and he could have shot his hooks or hit face up short shots against Cs. Javale seemed to be a player who would operate with some space away from the basket initially, but he could have gone for many rebounds and dunks next to Kevin.
I thought for sure the Wizards would come to the same conclusion, gordito, that Kevin would be a match up nightmare at PF, but so far they have not.
Tre Johnson is the future of the Wizards.

Re: Kevin Seraphin
Seraphin said last season that he wasn't quick enough to play PF. Maybe that'll change as he continues to get in better shape, but if a guy says he's not quick enough, I'll tend to take him at his word.

not to mention the lower risk of injury and less wear and tear during
the part of the year when most players are resting/recovering.

Re: Kevin Seraphin
Why do people worry about KS playing PF so much? 1st off I think he was clearly more of a 5 than a 4 last year. Havent seen his body this year but I loved him at the 5. I think the size thing is overrated. I think even the game vs the US this year was overrated. Why cant we just look at it like a bad game? Ive seen him play very good bigs in the NBA and score on them, including Chandler. Im not worried about that.
Also, people act like we had these great Centers on the Wiz to where we need to make KS switch positions. McGee was nothing special. Oak will probably be solid but still nothing special. People act like we have a dominant 5 who is going to play 40mpg and we cant find any minutes for KS so he has to play the 4. Infact, our stud is at the 4 so we should be happy that KS is a 5. Not only that but we still have guys like Book & so on who plays the 4 which is good enough
