So I am a happy man, no idea why everyone isn't jacked up for this
Now the date has been confirmed I’m all in and I’d like to think every single Nets fan will make an effort to be there, it’s going to be amazing.
I’ve been lucky enough to travel around the world watching and playing sports and I just can’t wait for this game versus the Knicks. I’ve travelled around France for 2 months in a camper van following Ireland during the rugby world cup in 2007. Was in South Africa for the 2010 football world cup. I was in New Zealand watching the British and Irish Lions play their test series in 2005. Watched my local rugby team called Ulster Rugby, play in the European Cup final in Twickenham, London. In Lucerne, Switzerland to see Great Britain perform at the rowing world championships. Still, I’ve never been as excited for a sporting event as I am about the prospect of seeing the Brooklyn Nets versus the New York Knicks. I mean welcome to the big time folks, people always complained about our lack of support in Newark and New Jersey, well we’re now in with the big boys so it’s time to get used to it.
I’m going to be at the very first game the Brooklyn Nets ever play in the NBA and as a bonus it’s the 1st time they play the Knicks in the NBA and it’s going to be insane. No matter what happens I will be there. I’m getting a ticket and after the game, im going to take the ticket home and frame it along with the Deron Williams picture of him crossing over Fatty Felton and breaking his ankles taken during the game.
But it’s not about one single game, it’s about more than that. Even if we lose versus the Knicks I’ll be a proud Nets fan because this is a new beginning for us as a franchise in the best arena in North America. If we lose it doesn’t mean the Knicks are a better team or franchise than us, it means they go 1-0 and we go 0-1 which means very little in the grand scheme of things. It’ll be great to soak the arena and atmosphere all in and understand that we have finally arrived in Brooklyn.
I have no clue why Nets fans have such an inferiority complex in regards the Knicks. We have a dam good basketball team and me as a Nets fan I have to be there.
I’m getting a lift from Larne (N.Ireland) 04:30 arrive in Belfast (N.Ireland) at 05:15. Then im booked on the 05:30 from Belfast to Dublin which will arrive at 07:30 for £11 return all on the 29th October.
I’m booked on the 29th Oct flight from Dublin to JFK with Aer Lingus returning on 5th Nov for £421. I’m staying at the Chelsea International Hostel for £266.
I haven’t got a ticket but i’ll get one no matter what because I HAVE to be there
Bus travel = £11
Flight = £421
Hostel = £266
Seeing the Brooklyn Nets versus the New York Knicks in the first NBA game ever in the Barclays Center……….. PRICELESS!!!!

Wow man...true sports stud.
I completely agree about playing the Knicks. We have a good team and it seems like our fans are failing to realize it. And it's not like we're playing a juggernaut dynasty of a team where we should expect to lose by 20.
The Nets have done tons of advertising and have been on a media blitz for months now. Even if we had a terrible team and we all knew we were going to get blown out, the Yormarket will make sure that people won't even remember the game as much as they remember the entire experience of being at the Barclays Center. (I've seen it up close and personal about two months ago and even in its unfinished state, I was getting excited because thing is super-impressive.
In the Nets eyes, the first game is a celebration of a 7+ year plan of bringing the Nets to Brooklyn, not about Nets vs. Knicks. The fact that we're playing the Knicks is just icing on the cake of the celebration and if we lose, we'll still have enjoyed the "cake".
I went to three games at the Rock last year including the final game of the season at home. We got smacked around basically the entire game, but I didn't care about the game as they were showing the history and the special videos of past Nets. I just felt good that I was there to see the last game. Winning would've just been icing on the cake. It's the same thing about the first game at Barclays.
This is not to say that I think we'll lose. I think we have a very good team that fits together pretty well.
D-Will, JJ, and Lopez have been getting underrated by lots of people and they've never even played together on the same team. Heck, D-Will and Lopez only played 12 games together. Now, we'll have D-Will, JJ, Wallace, Lopez, with Brooks as the 6th man. If Teletovic gets the minutes and plays how I think he will, this team will be sick!
