For some reason, I really loved this part:
Energy personified.
he crouched into his typical defensive stance 75 feet from the basket and shouted at nobody in particular. He wasn't taunting his opponent, the Sacramento Kings, nor was he shouting instructions to his teammate behind him. He was just shouting for the hell of it.
Energy personified.

Re: Michael Kidd-Gilchrist Thread (mkg signs pg 18)
Watching his old college games, I see things in his game that just has me in awe. On the fast break, it seems like he was really unstoppable. It doesn't matter if it was 1 on 1, 1 on 2 or 3, MKG would get the ball and go full speed ahead and convert on the breaks. The only other players I see with this ability are D Wade and Lebron, and no...I'm not saying his going to be as great as they are, just saying what I see.
Also, in the games he would play with Kentucky, in some of the biggest games, he would take over for periods. Kentucky was so loaded, Lamb was a focal offensive player with all around skills, Jones was the go to guy, and Gilchrist just played but when he got the urge, he would dominate the games. This guy could've been a 20-25 point scorer on any lesser talented tea without a doubt. The game vs Baylor in the NCAA tourney he had about 20 points at halftime, he was the main reason Baylor got blown out early. This kid is gonna be very good.

This is exactly why I wanted him badly in the draft (I think 2 or 3 others did as well, maybe). He may even have a better career than Davis will. The kid is relentless, and I like how Jordan, and Cho are keeping him out of the media for now. Smart move.

They're probably keeping him out of the media to protect his image. My bet is they have him working with a speech coach to make him a better interviewee

Re: Michael Kidd-Gilchrist Thread (mkg signs pg 18)
watching more kentucky last season, and some assorted high school highlights, for whatever that's worth.
MKG gets banged up a LOT - he will remind many of gerald wallace in that regard alone. however, he's always hesitant to come out of the game and relatively quick to re-enter. he plays very fast and i don't know if you'll ever spot him daydreaming while on the court. always locked in, ready to play, engaged.
in the half court he always seems to want to be part of a more general rhythm, doesn't really look to take charge or dominate the ball. at the end of the shot clock, though, he'll attempt something or other, and he's extremely confident and accurate when he's on the move. i would hope to see a few more pump fakes when he gets close to the basket and wants to shoot little jumpers. spot up shooting he's not horrible, but he's solidly average for a rookie right now. he's not going to flinch and panic when someone passes him the ball, that's for sure. he was often the one trying to keep the halfcourt offense's pace up while at kentucky, when some of the other players were wanting to catch their breath a bit.
as far as in transition, MKG might walk into the league as one of its 20 or so most effective players in the fast break. he has the ability to go into fast forward mode for short little bursts that get him where he wants to be, and he typically goes directly towards the rim once he crosses midcourt. you can see he knows how to space and wants to be running up and down the court by default. he trails plays for the most part pretty well, though sometimes he'll get into all-star game mode and slow up while someone gets a highlight dunk. was just constantly sprinting up and down the floor against UNC, and Louisville in the NCAA tourney. he will feed the break very quickly off the defensive boards.
his competitiveness shows up pretty much 100% of the time he is playing defense. he has extremely quick hands and will seize upon a loose ball like a lot of krzyzewski pupils. he does all sorts of dirty work in going to the glass for rebounds, and locks on to opponents and blocks out very early in shots. i think he's much more interested in on-ball defense than trying to come across the lane and swat shots. call me crazy, but he's going to make at least a couple all-defensive teams, and probably 5+.
bottom line, if he can stay healthy, he can absolutely be an all-star calibre player at some point in the next 3 years. his high floor as a defensive player will give him a long career no matter what, and he's going to put up 15 points or so just from his work in transition and his ability to crash the offensive glass. i would want to focus on keeping him engaged in halfcourt offense, refining his jumpshooting rhythm quite a bit, and keeping him nice and limber because he's going to be on the ground a lot for a long time.

Yeh, that's a reasonable explanation. Or maybe they're keeping him out of games because he's just TOO good.... if he played, he'd just blow everyone away, and the Bobcats want to go under the radar in the lead up to the regular season. Both are equally likely.

last warning. if you want to talk about MKG in a normal manner, fine, but making sarcastic comments specifically to stir up another 5 pages of pointless preseason debate about this isnt going to fly.
also sik, please leave the mod stuff to us. thanks.

BobsBuddy wrote::D From What I've seen of MKG paired with veterans like Sessions and Gordon should give the Bobcats a tremendous offensive injection. With Mully at 4 and Haywood at 5, we should have a respectable starting unit. KW,Hendo, and Biz should offer a spark from the bench and when paired with TT and JT give us a respectable second team. Hopefully if UPS and DJWhite aren't picked up, we can still sign one of them to backup at 4. I hope Matt has a good year shooting where we might get something in return for his expiring contract. As for DIOP![]()
well lets hope he can contribute somehow or be packaged as an expiring contract ? Anyway with MKG getting 25 mpg+ we should increase our team stats both offensively and defensively. Improvement at every postion is the way this team will be remembered as we continue the rebuilding process.
Sessions wont be starting over Walker, and Gordon won't be starting over Henderson.
Also not a given yet that Haywood will be starting over Biyombo.

^ It's not even a given Mullens will be starting either.
Just kidding, I'm pretty sure our starting five is Kemba, Hendo, MKG, Mully, and Biz. Gordon, JT, Sessions, and Haywood are pretty good bench players.

I would not assume that anyone has a lock on starting at this point.
My picks:
2020 Draft (3rd pick) - Tyrese Haliburton, Devin Vassell, or Onyeka Okongwu
2021 Draft (11th pick) - Moses Moody

I think your underestimating Matt Carrol, he might be making a push to start at small forward
