According to this, RGIII, aka M Vick with an arm, only came in 11th at the 2008 Olympic Team trials. This is a guy who knows all the mechanics, whereas someone like westbrook probably doesn't even have good form.

off-topic, but "Vick with an arm"?
Vick has a cannon mounted to his shoulder.

In contrast, the talent pool that goes into track and field is much poorer, because there is no money to be made there. Therefore, if we take those best athletes, and give them two months of training, they will be able to wipe the behinds of those currently winning those events.
In other words, take the four best runners from the US Olympic Basketball Team, give them two months of training, and they can be world champs in the 4 x 100 meter race!!!

It's different than volleyball though. Sprinting doesn't take years of skill/technique training.
There's a ton of technique and form to sprinting, but it doesn't take long to learn.
with that being said, Walter Dix did not run anywhere close to a 3.75 40, that is impossible and he's probably more in the 4.2 range.
The faster guys in the league assuming their technique was good could break 11 seconds, but no way they go down to 10.15.
Sonny Weems would win.
I'm thinking the fastest guy in the NBA would do a 10.4.
You also have to realize that NBA players are built differently. 100m sprinters are all fast twicth explosiveness, while NBA players also need endurance.
