Why? this is a pointless signing. What happened with Gee?

This signing will likely have no effect on resigning Alonzo Gee. Miles can play both the 2 and the 3, and guess what, we are very thin at the 2 and the 3. Cheap signing of a player that still has the potential to improve his game. Not much to complain about here.
Well at least we're not Detroit!

Guy actually has some talent. But, kinda has a 2 cent brain if you know what I mean. There are times watching him you just wonder what the heck he's thinking.

Why is he watching that shot instead of leaking out or getting into rebounding position?
Why is he fouling that jumpshooter. Why is he fouling that 3pt jumpshooter?
Why is he guarding absolutely nobody?

One tip, Miles is tons better if he takes a dribble before shooting. My personal theory is that it turns off his brain and just lets muscle memory take over. If he's set and squared up he's just got too much time to think about the shot. Much more of a rhythm shooter.

On the plus side, every now and then he'll make a drive to the basket that looks like a major NBA baller move. Like the spirit of Vince Carter (the good Vince) takes over his body for a play. And you start to think, 'WOW, if he can just do THAT on a regular basis he'd be an All-Star. And he just showed he can do it!"

Then it's back to a bunch of bricks and bad or non-existent decisions.

Nice kid. I hope he finds that Vince Carter inside him more often for you guys.

JazzFan summed it up perfectly. The kind of guy who for a play or even a game will look like an all-star, but overall his inconsistency and poor decision-making hold him back from being a nice player. Maybe a change of scenery will do him well. Always seemed like a nice guy.

The Ryan Hollins of wings?, lol.

Knew his shooting had tanked and was hoping maybe it coincided with Deron Williams leaving, but his percentages have been sliding for four straight years. Hopefully the change snaps him back to form.

Given what's been said I do wonder about how he'll adapt to Scott's offense....which is pretty much predecated on quick smart decisions.

The guy will have maybe 2-3 games per season that will just blow you away. ...but every other game will have you pulling your hair out.

Hopefully a change of scenery will help him concentrate more. He can be an amazingly talented player if he puts his mind to it-- but Jazz fans have given up all hope of CJ bringing consistency.

Great personality, shouldn't cause any locker room drama. Just might chuck your team out of the game a couple of times.

Seems like a NBA caliber player, which is good cause we still need a few more to build a rotation. Should provide competition for Waiters. He's also 25 years old, perhaps he can finally break out as a player. Though the shooting% declines seem to strongly suggest no.

First,

CJ is a really good kid. But until he learns to shoot on balance he will continue to shoot bad percentages. Its seems that every shot is off balance and usually for no reason at all. He will be wide open and he will fade away, or lean left or right or whatever. He never just goes up and squares his shoulders.

Jazz fans call him the glory shot type player. You know the kind that play the 10, 9, 8.... 3, 2, 1 count down game in his drive way too much and finishes it off by trying to take some miraculous shot that has to be contorted.

Its too bad because he has a good stroke.

I believe we are currently at 17 players on the roster now. You have to think that Walton will defintely be one of the casualties unless a big trade goes down soon.

Solid pickup. Anything that will keep Casspi off the floor for extended periods of time is great IMO :)

I'm likely one of the few that think CJ will do well for you guys. Even though his shooting percentages have dipped he seems to have been figuring some things out the last couple of years.

I agree with the shooting off balance comment made earlier. He has a tendancy to make things harder than he needs to at times. He is a rythm shooter and his confidence is key. He's recieved plenty of opportunities in Utah but was always trying to overachieve to keep the starting role. I think he'll be better as he excepts a role as simply a rotation player coming off of your bench.

He has toughened up his defense but still has a tendency to foul when he shouldn't. A reaching foul on someone that's blown by him or a dumb foul on a 3pt shot play often take him out of the game. I'm not sure if he just gets lazy or if he loses focus at times but it costs him minutes.

The key is he is still young and improving and he'll put up good numbers for you especially if he is not your number one option on the outside.

Good luck to him and your team.

p.s. waive Walton, his dad is a better announcer then he is a player and his dad is a terrible announcer.

Did you just say Bill Walton is a terrible announcer? He is one of the true marvels, not just of basketball, or in America, but in the history of Western Civilization!
