odd reply for someone who has only been here 2 months

aren't scavenger hunts for like, summer camps and 12 year olds with too much time on their hands?

that's what we call our fantasy drafts in which you have to fill out certain categories, hence the name

viewtopic.php?f=53&t=1125656 - last year

I liked the retired players one better though, probably because I'm a "stuck in the 90s" type of guy.

yeah, time for scavenger hunt. this year us mods discussed combining the retired players with current players, for a new twist (limit to players who started their careers after the ABA/NBA merger 1976)

12 spots - if more than 12 want to play, consideration goes 1st to those who played last year, 2nd to those who have been members the longest.

we can work out categories in the next few days and put a sign up thread after.

so it's not like fantasy basketball obviously, because there are no games IRL... so what happens once you pick teams?

everybody makes his case why his team would win, what's the gameplan, the allocated minutes, the style of play etc. and then people vote on who they think is the best team.

it's probably for the best. It will be strange that guys like Erving and Gervin are not available, but the 70s are one weird decade for basketball (ABA, so talent is divided in two leagues, drugs, players start having larger egos), it was tough enough to decide what to think about a team that has somebody like Pettit last year, but the "Erving's ABA stats are inflated" discussions is even more of a nightmare.

I don't know whether it's being done the same way on a lot of other forums, but I just love that here we do it the scavenger hunt way. I certainly found out about this here on the Cats forum. So have your fun with the categories, it's a great twist and I trust your judgement, since I loved them last year and some of them make me seriously laugh. So many of them make you go "how the **** can I find a good player that's "insert some random category" in the 9th round"... We should have a "White Stiff" category, in honor of the Steve Schefflers and Jack Haleys of the NBA.

Yeah. Pretty much a "like" on facebook. But they're still pretty glitchy sometimes. I also wish they'd put it near the other buttons. They're kind of annoying.

It's actually pretty easy if you have somewhere else to live while you do it

Done it twice

Both times were when I was younger (~10 and ~14) so I wasn't in charge of paying or planning, but I thoroughly enjoyed doing the work. Learned a lot about painting, electrical, plumbing, etc.

Taking a sledgehammer to walls and **** is pretty awesome too
