No. It might have been "embarrassing" when that happened but let's be real when he came back into the lineup & Linsanity exploded that's when the media, fans, etc were vultures on Melo, wondering how he would fit, criticizing him with any given chance. It didn't reach a major level until Linsanity came out in full force.

As far as him saying that quote in Knicks fans eyes that's another strike against him, he's reaching A-Rod status & I understand the anger, but as someone who believes players should be more blunt and say how they really feel when asked a question I don't have a problem with it. :dontknow:

People are gonna pinpoint him for saying "Linsanity thing" & say "oh well that's all I needed to hear. Melo was a liar this whole time he never did like Lin" or "Melo is a c*nt for bringing up his selfishness he's a primadonna, he should shut his ass up & give political answers."

Negro please, give them that Kobe Bryant treatment, let them cry & b*tch. Problem over here in NY is everybody loses their mind & overreacts like they're directly being affected.

Melo's problems with fan perception were always there, way before Lin. There was already a lot of skepticism and negativity at the Garden. If anything, it set the table for Linsanity, not the other way around.

Exactly. Part of what made Linsanity was that Lin was the anti-Melo. Where Melo was perceived as a selfish ballstopping prima donna (even before Lin), Lin was perceived as the unselfish, ball-moving savior. Melo was getting booed before Linsanity started.

if you don't have the faculty to properly assess your problems and give insight, yes, you're better off shutting up. you certainly don't say something that makes you look self-deluded and like you're looking for a convenient excuse. How does that help?

If this keeps going on, do you guys see Melo - Lin as Shaq - Kob v 2?

No.

Because Lin will never reach the level to be considered a rival to Melo. The media also created the drama Lin v Melo but for Shaq and Kobe that **** was genuine distain for one another.

Not to mention, the Knicks are so far ahead of the Rockets none of the games will ever be competitive.

Keep in mind Lin is on a 3 year deal with Houston. He is in his early 20's. Plenty of time for him to reach that level and then move on to another team. I don't think they will be rivals regardless, unless Lin ended up on a team in the East that the Knicks had to go through. I'd prefer to see them team up again as Knicks though!

Didn't the Knicks get blown out by the Rockets last season?

The Knicks didn't have Melo, but the Rockets didn't have Kevin Martin.

But then again that's just from looking at boxscores and such. I honestly wasn't paying attention to either of those teams at that point last season, so maybe there were other mitigating factors.

That's your opinion.

My opinion says Lin is gonna average 22ppg, 9apg, 4rpg, 2spg. He's gonna be at that level. Shaq - Kobe started as early as Kobe's 2nd year when Shaq slammed him against locker room, and at the time, Kobe was good but nowhere near the level of Shaq, like Lin, Kobe was a gym rat and arguably grew to be a more dominant player in his prime than Shaq.

You're right that Shaq - Kobe hated each other, but media was also responsible for blowing incidents out of proportion, just like in any case.

Knicks are gonna be better short term, but not sure long term when role players like Kidd, Camby, Prigioni, KT become vegetables like Juwan Howard, and we're strapped financially. While Rockets can count on just 1 of the 3 rookies to be very good, and they have young players, attractive young assets, lottery picks, and flexibilities.

Show me one genuine gym rat who becomes a bust. No one.

And what problems does Melo have? People claiming he's a cáncer? People claiming he's selfish? People claiming he's not a team player?

Time after Time Melo has said all the right things since he's gotten here.

So 1 time he comes clean about him & Lin and now once again all the negative is true cause Melo was honest about the whole situation & how it's made him feel.

So Jeremy Lin will have an MVP caliber season and will put up better numbers then Chris Paul did last year.

Spare me.

Lin will have free reign on a team that basically let all its players go, or traded them, letting the Rox go into lottery...

getting 20 points a game wont be a problem

any good NBA player can put up 30 points if you give them enough shots...

what ill be looking for is Lins FG% if it stays around 45%

and if he continues to make his teammates around him better...

NBATV is showing all Lin's memorable games today and tomorrow. They just showed his first start against Utah--the blue tongue wag game. Next they're showing the Wizards game.

That's the thing though. A lot of factors will play into Lin's success in Houston.

Will he get the free reign D'antoni gave him?

Will he be able to stay consistent?

How will he counter against the other PG's in the league who I can bet my house on will have a vendetta against him because of the Linsanity attention?

Will his scoring first style hurt him in the long run with injuries?

Will his defense improve, something that was a big question mark coming out of the draft/summer league?

good question. I saw a few rockets game this season cause I wanted to see dragics run as well as a starter.

ye he will get free reign

i doubt pg's will have a vendetta against him cause he is no longer in NY and is now on a scrub team. they are probably the youngest team in the NBA

injuries happen to all players it is a danger of the sport

yes his defense will improve mchale demands defense plus his defense was a lot better towards the end of his season.

How can you say this when Dragic and Lowry didn't put up those numbers and both are superior guards?

Because they aren't superior guards. At least not offensively. Dragic doesn't have the ability to take his man 1 on 1 or get to the hoop at will, he scores mostly on jumpers. Lowry doesn't have the speed at all. Lowry is a great defensive guard. I'd say Lin > Dragic offensively and defensively.
