Laker moments only WE remember

Post#1 » by lakegz1 » Sat Aug 4, 2012 6:09 am

I just made this thread so we could reminisce about those Laker moments that weren't so notable but we, of course, as real Laker fans can remember like it was yesterday.

Moments like on opening day in the 2004-5 season when Chris Mihm put up like 20 points and we were all joking around saying "Shaq who?"

Or Van Exel's crazy-almost-out-of-bounds three pointer in '95 to beat the Celtics.

So, what can you guys remember?

Lamar Odom dribbling inbounds.
Smush's clutch 3 vs Suns in 2006.
Turiaf lighting up Suns' frontcourt for 20/10 in 2007-08.
Kareem Rush bombing 3s on Minnesota in 2004.
That punctured feeling when Mihm rolled his ankle against the Sonics in 2006. The poor guy never recovered since then.
Vladimir Radmanovic's confidence in making cuts off the ball, late 2008.
Sasha's 20pt game vs Celtics.
Fisher/Kobe pick n roll in Q3 game 4(?) in Boston, 2010

I'm gonna throw around some vague ones to see if anyone else remembers these:

Odom passing in between a gsw defenders legs from the ground for a Kobe 360 dunk during one of the post-Gasol seasons
Kobe hitting a big three in SA (or Houston) and doing the big balls taunt, but we lost the game
Kobe throwing a temper tantrum in Utah and slamming the ball in to the ground after the win and talkign **** to Utah fans for disrespecting Fish at the post-game interview
Gasol running the fast break and doing fancy dribbles and passing it to Trevor (i think) for the finish (no idea against who)
Pargo and Rush sparking a comeback against the Spurs in game 5 in 2003, with Kobe making 2 ridiculous fadeaway threes in the last minute only to see us lose with Horry's shot going in n out
Kobe getting a ridiculous call for a 4 point play against the Wolves in 2003 in game 4 down 5(I think), the Lakers getting a steal the next play and Kobe splitting the ft's and Lakers losing in OT

Remember most of those.

That Odom pass was vs the Suns in 2006 when Kobe posterized Nash.
That Gasol pass was to Odom ended up and1. It was vs the Clippers.
That San Antonio game Roger Mason hit the game winner.

When we faces Phx in 07/08, I believe it was the 2nd game. We murked their asses, and who could forget when Phil told D'Toni to sit his ass down hahaha. And who remembers that Luke Walton between the legs pass to Kobe with a sick slam dunk? Good times.

Or in 05/06, in the playoffs, the Laker crowd was chanting Kwame's name at the FT line since he was doing so well. And when he towered all over Diaw like he was going to murder his fat ass.

When Kobe made that unbelievable shot vs the Spurs in 05/06 I believe going out of bounds, with 3 dudes draped over him and swishing it like it was nothing.

Smush Parker actually producing.

When Kobe got suspended and we played the Bucks with the most **** team ever assembled, I believe it was Smush/Sasha/Evans/Cook/Turiaf, and I actually watched the entire game.

Probably a lot more I can't remember, I'll chime in later with some more.

Those years when Sedale Threatt was our starting point guard and 75% of our fan base stopped being fans.

real ****, does anybody remember kobe's in the corner 3 pointer, fading away, trapped by 2 blazers defenders in the corner while falling out of bounds. 'i remember i was at a house party when it went down and made me think.

i know kobe was in his prime that year, but that game literally solidified him as the greatest player this generation in my eyes. I've been a laker fan for days and i always knew he got down like that, but it wasnt until that day, that play that I said aloud to myself that this guys the best player in the NBA, second to none.

Hes too good, he can't miss are all thoughts that crossed my mind. its too bad the suns peaked during his PRIME PRIME or else he'd easily have 7 rings right now

The Kobe and-1 against the Kings in the playoffs of game 4 (?) in 2001 at the end of half time and just being cocky.

Kobe's ridiculous and-1 shot against the Rockets in 04 playoffs where he wiggled his hands.

I think this is 05 season of Christmas game against Miami. Kobe drives in and gets Shaq fouled out, wiggles his finger at him.

Smush Parker going 1 on 1 and driving and missing 2 plays (In between is the Kobe banker that put us up by 3) before the Tim Thomas 3 with time on the shot clock in game 6 of 06 playoffs. Boy did that piss me off.

Tim Thomas making like 9 3s in game 1 of 06 playoffs.

Trevor Ariza's vicious dunk on Grant Hill against the Suns in the Christmas game.

Tim Thomas had a run as the most clutch player against the Lakers there for awhile - I swear. He really pissed me off with the Suns and then continued it with the Clippers.

I think Ronny Turiaf's tenure with the Lakers was memorable. I was stoked we snagged him in the second round, but then he had the heart problems that the Lakers helped him pay for and then he recovered quicker than expected and signed a contract that season. Loved having a second round draft pick come in and give so much effort (he was a better mad dog).

I went nuts when he nailed that one.

It always stood out in my mind as a reminder of Kobe's inhuman range. He shot that like a jump shot.

remember going to opening night vs the rockets after the summer Kobe requested a trade and it seemed like everyone boo'd him. I think fisher hit a late shot to send that game into overtime and the lakers ended up loosing.

i remember going to a pre season game this year vs the clippers and a drunk guy was chanting MVP for McRoberts
