Since we are probably going to stay small, yeah Kobe could stay out there as the 2, but just don't like that if he touches the ball, it probably becomes his possession.

as bad as kobe was defensively today, i'd have less faith in melo and durant being involved in more ball screens at the end of games.

The whole team needs help on defense if Chandler isn't going to be out there. I don't know what Chris Paul was doing.

I think LeBron is an overrated paint defender, so our SFs don't make much of an intimidating 4/5 frontline.

I wonder how much difference Taj would have made for himself(money wise) and for the USA team as a paint defender?

Ideally, if the USA team had Taj and Asik with LeBron, Paul and Durant as the other three....that would be another dream team.

If Team USA had Asik, Turkey would be understandably pissed.

Well, I certainly didn't expect Lithuania to play the US that close going off their performance in this tournament so far. Kleiza was unbelievable in the 1st half.

Why doesn't our old friend Martynas Andriuskevicius play for Lithuania

Turning into a blowout.

Jordan never fully understood basketball. He had the lowest basketball IQ of any NBA "superstar" in history.

Geez... that 2nd half was basically a flashback of USA-Nigeria... except the dominators were Australia, and their Melo was Patty Mills...

Sorry, I like Deng, but really? 3/15 against Australia and a 70-29 2nd half allowed?

This has nothing to do his wrist... it's a recurring thing (Philly series)... Lu needs an offensive creator passing to him, or else his (and the team's) offense is toast. Has the occasional hot shooting night, but you can't count on it. (NOT looking forward to the Hinrich-Deng show)

But anyway... hope these Olympics are an answer for anyone who thinks Deng can play SG... :-?

Great win, Patty Mills was hitting everything unlike the previous games. If only we had Bogut, maybe we could've taken brazil too and skipped the USA. That game really killed us, Brazil's bigs were too much for us.

I agree with your premise, but just seeing how he shot last year after his wrist injury, I think it has at least a little to do with it.

It probably didn't affect the outcome, but about a minute into the 3rd quarter, one of the Australian players (I think Delladevova) sidled up to a ref and pointed to the stat board up in the corner rafters, indicating Australia shot 0 free throws in the first half. After 3 quarters, they were 12 for 12 from the line.
