I dont know our current state of the cap space i know we always tight tho. So my question is do we have any room at all to sign a big body. I mean one who isnt a waste of money if there isnt dont waste it ya know.
Prizbila (sp wrong) is out there still i think and orton he might be had also big body at least. Just think if we make arun one more time we might wanna think about a big or maybe a trade for a Dminded big. What do you think?

Re: big on a budget?
I would expect that we might take a look at a minimum-non-guaranteed-salary type of player who might or might not be a big. Remember that for the time being the 4/5 rotation includes Timmy, Splitter, Blair, Bonner and Diaw all of whom could play big minutes in any game if required. Also, have in mind that we could go small and play 4 perimeter players around one big which means a sixth big would be nothing more than a bench-warmer.
About Orton, it is still the biggest mystery how this guy got drafted in the first round after playing less than 100 minutes total in his college career. I remember people calling for us to draft him at the time and I absolutely cringed at the idea. Thankfully, our FO knows better than fall for the hype. ORL, on the other hand, thought he might be a cheap backup for Howard, even if a prospect. From what I've seen, they haven't used him at all even though they don't really have a backup for Howard. That tells you something about Orton, doesn't it.
Still, at this point he might be worth a training camp and probably several pre-season games but I don't know his FA status at the moment.

Yes i understand the rotation and i like what we have as far bigs. Just more of a question about how much cash and whos out there and blair bonner and diaw arent shot blockers and really not sure if splitter is either. As far as orton goes dont know much about him other than he got lost in coll. And in orl. It was just a name that could come cheap oh well hopefully we can push for another run but longer season this year has me worried.

Re: big on a budget?
We can only add a FA for the vet min. But, i think that paying that money put as under luxury tax.
So, as it won't happen, only way is a trade or sign and trade.
Players that SAS would trade don't have big salaries (Blair, Neal, Bonner) or rookies like joseph and De Colo..

Ya I kinda wanted us to amnesty Bonner too but if you think about it the grand sceme of things his contract doesn't amount to much and I doubt we'd even spend the cash if we could.
We still lack a shot blocker, its been a problem for years and I don't see us addressing it anytime soon and I definitely don't see a vet min dude addressing that problem either.

Yes agree 100% just didnt know how it all worked and ever a min vet guy would give us mor blocked shots than bonner and blair together. Dont get me wrong im a blair fan hes a beast and with another 82 games and a mid range shot he could be a spur for ever and i wouldnt mind at all jurys still out on splitter for me tho. Also we lack a true center we have 5 pf and with bonners speed and quickness we have 4 pf and a big slow SF lol. After splitter and duncan most teams have a big body coming off the bench to frustrate bonner and stop blair on sheer size alone i think this is blairs year to shine tho. He knows how to work with the bench well and we do have a deep one if we bring manu off the bench also. Shot blocking is something i whine about every off season tho. I still think dare i say darko might be a name we could look at as a third 7footer atleast he plays D sometimes if we can afford him.

We've needed length and some agility up front next to Tim as he's dropped off a level since 2007... (Horry, Elson, Oberto), but we sat on our hands that summer (just added Udoka) while Boston, Houston, and Dallas got after it... then LAL was LAL.
Daniel Orton, I'm actually a believer in, I like his size as a big center that we could definitely use in limited mins off the bench, maybe if he gets enough time. Could turn out to be another Danny Green type of pick-up, but as a defensive role-player who can effect a game up front.
Splitter will only get better and we should be grateful to have next to Tim, but you still need one more big with length... we need to get somebody off of our TC roster or sign a guy like Darko or Fesenko.
In a big game or sequence, if Tim or Splitter are unavailable, we have on true big, and then a bunch of undersized players. Diaw being the only one who isn't limited athletically. We've always had 3 bigs with length since 2008 and prior, and all quality teams usually do. We need to get another one.

Talking Blatche now. I think it's definitely a good option on a minimum deal, he's a meat head but he's athletic. If any team can help him put it together somewhat it's the Spurs. And if he did anything stupid he'd be grilled out by Pop and all our vets.

I really like that pick up if it goes our way.
A talented player but a moron, I'm sure TD and Pop can mould him into a decent team player, especially if he is on a team that can contend.
He would give us an athletic big with a legit offensive game.
My biggest fear is that he'll take the easy option and play with the heat.

Blatche would be a nice option. At worst he'd be worth every cent for six hard fouls per game. At best he allows Timmy rest in the RS as well as keeping him playing as a jump shooter.

Should just go out and get one of Blatche/Martin/Darko/Fesenko and then an old vet. like Ben Wallace for spot minutes... I'd easily take old Ben Wallace at this point over Bonner. Get some guys who will actually be a presence around the basket on this team.

One of the reasons why we should sign Fesenko...
Replace Bonner/Blair with Blatche and Fesenko, call it an off-season... but it seems this FO is too biased to perimeter-talent, even when there's cheaper, beneficial options out there. Trade Blair and Bonner for picks.
