(Post SL Pre Season) Who would you have drafted in 2012?

Post#1 » by Knighthonor » Sat Aug 4, 2012 8:06 pm

Well after watching to drafts in the Summer League,

who would you have drafted with the Wizard's picks during the 2012 draft if you had the Crystal ball back then during the draft at the outcome of the Summer League?

Don't we already have a thread for this? Or maybe it's just for Round 2. I don't know how SL would affect anything either, for that matter. Still....

#3 I would have picked Bradley Beal.
#32 I would have picked Jae Crowder.
#46 (which I would have kept) I would have picked Kyle O'Quinn.

If I had a crystal ball and it were draft day all over again, I would send Trevor Booker and/or Jordan Crawford the #3 to Portland for the #6 and the #11 if they were interested. (I would give both to the Blazers if necessary).

At #6, I would draft Damian Lillard. At #11, I would draft John Henson.

At #32, I would draft Will Barton

At #46, I would draft Darius Miller
Tre Johnson is the future of the Wizards.

I would. I don't know why his or any other player's SL performance would change someones draft selection.

This looks pretty damn good. There is a chance that Portland would take Lillard at 3. I was very tempted to suggest we take him at three.

At #3 I still would have taken Beal. Ive seen nothing from him or from anyone else that leads me to believe he was not the BPA at that pick.

My opinion on Lamb is the same as it was 3 months ago, Nick Young 3.1, Maybe even Nick Young XP... or Vista. Time will tell whether he reaches his potential. We are done gambling on players like Lamb though. We needed a guaranteed home run with the pick, I still believe in Beal.

Well, in fairness, we took Mike Pence off their hands. Taking back Mahinmi is the least they can do.

kinda find it funny how people keep calling Lamb a new version of Nick Young.

thats what originally turned me off from the guy since I knew little about him. But looking at he SL games, this guy is heading for future Stardom
Just dont see the Nick Young in him besides body language.

?? Don't think you would have had to give that much -- probably just the #3 for #s 6 and 11.

Still, I'd have been happy to include Jordan Crawford (if not Booker) -- that's addition by subtraction. :)

Hollis Thompson went undrafted I believe. Why would you have spent a pick on him? Why not just sign him for training camp the day after the draft? In that case, you could trade the #46 pick for a pick next year.

Jeremy Lamb is such a textbook illustration of the roll-of-the-dice aspect of the draft. Will his mental make-up and attitude get in the way of his ability to cash in on his obviously great physical gifts?

Sort of a similar question about Drummond I guess -- although I always got a very positive vibe off his interviews. Never in Lamb's case.

Hollis went undrafted for a reason. Surgery.

But obviously, the Thunder think pretty highly of him considering they partially guaranteed his contract.

President Donald Trump referred to African countries, Haiti and El Salvador as "shithole" nations during a meeting Thursday and asked why the U.S. can't have more immigrants from Norway.

Does Lamb have the same mental makeup of young?

I've made the comparison, but it's purely from performance on the court. He plays exactly like Nick Young. If he's got a better mental makeup, that kind of player could be valuable.

I would have nabbed Hollis also. The cheapie 3-year contract that OKC signed him to is something that Ernie lacks the imagination to do.

3. Beal
32. Crowder
46. Denmon

If I could have done CCJ's trade, I'd have taken Lillard and Zeller.

If I could have acquired another 2nd round pick high enough, I'd have taken Barton. Yet another 2nd round pick I liked: Darius Johnson-Odom.

I also liked O'Quinn, but I would have preferred to get him as an undrafted free agent.

I like it. See, missing out on moves like this is what keeps us out of the title run.

You should put together a resume and send it to Ted.
