We should go after Blatche

Post#1 » by JMagic3 » Sun Aug 5, 2012 2:21 pm

Reasons:

He's only 25.

Too much youth and upside for a team who needs a big not to try especially for cheap.

On April 1, 2011, playing against the Cleveland Cavaliers, Andray had an astounding game: 36 points,19 rebounds, 4 assists, 1 steal, and 1 block. 16 were offensive rebounds.

OKC is giving Daniel Orton a look, Blatche will certainly go to a playoff team (Heat and Spurs are interested).

WHat are your thoughts? I know people are going to say his immature, lazy, etc. But granted hopefully he will mature with a new team, he has the size, and he has been on a losing team for years.

not Rob's kind of player. is a me-first player, doesnt play defense, head case. Those arent the type of players you see in SA or OKC

Fwiw, San Antonio is interested in him.

Blatche is a knucklehead... but you can't deny his talent... when Arenas went down a few years ago, he stepped up and carried the offensive load for the team.

http://espn.go.com/nba/player/gamelog/_ ... ay-blatche (from January)
http://espn.go.com/nba/player/gamelog/_ ... ay-blatche (when given minutes)

Unfortunately his attitude is not the best... one of the reasons why the Wizards didn't play him at times and he sat on the bench a lot.

With that all said... whichever team signs him (most likely for the vet min) is going to get a STEAL!... the guy is very skilled and can put up All-Star type numbers if given starter minutes and sufficient plays on offense.

We would be stupid to not consider signing him at the very least... San Antonio and Miami are looking to sign him outright.

talented but hes not that good, not a team player, a head case, not motivated, selfish, wont make your team better, not worth the risk

He could be a great piece for a contending team. I don't think his attitude would be a factor if his team was winning. Could see him taking the place of the aging injury-prone Haslem. Question is will he be ok not being a top 3-4 offensive option.

thats because SA already has a great veteran culture in place. he would be a good fit on a veteran team and a coach who is a no nonsense person who can get though to him. ex SA, Bos, maybe LA, MIA

I agree. If we're all about player development, then hopefully we can help Blatche's game. He does have a lot of talent, but he needs the right coaching and guidance. The Spurs looking at him see the talent and know Popavich can do something with it. Got to be able to be able to find the hidden gems in the NBA to make your team cost-efficient, build trade assets, and win games. Doesn't seem like too high of a risk imo.

Pass. We already have a similarly skilled young PF in Nicholson to develop, who is also much more intelligent than Blatche will ever be.

This is true and why today's media speculates on Miami and the Spurs. But I read a good editorial that he would be best served signing a LLE deal for an up and comer team such that he could maximize his exposure for a future 8-figure deal (he gets 7.1 no matter what this year).

In either scenario, Orlando would not be his destination.

Based on his past problems, I don't know how well he would respond to a rookie coach, while playing for a team on the decline. I'm not so sure we're the right type of situation for him.
