Ah, but marriage as acknowledged by the United States of America is not a religious bond, but rather a legal one. And since "Congress shall make no law respecting an establishment of religion...", we can't go around basing our marriage laws on what certain religions may believe.

You're not understanding what that law actually says.

I dunno man, you're gonna have to ask about 40 odd US senates, plus a couple hundred million US citizens.

There are a huge, HUGE, amount of straight people born with chemical imbalances, too. Should we ban them from getting married, too? So no one with manic depression should be allowed to marry? Should they get beaten for being bi-polar? Should we bully manic depressives in high school?

Why does the Magic organization care about people doing their own thing? It makes no sense to waste all that money to oppose people who aren't even relevant to you. It's not like the gays are ruining civilization. Just let gay marriage be legal so we can move on with this nonsense.

19%? 52% voted against it (for prop 8) in 2008.

It's not okay to oppose gay marriage. Don't let idiots just get away with it.

What is this, some high school "short answer" document?

No, it's the straight to the point truth. Go wave your Rebel flag elsewhere.

It depends how you define marriage.

If you believe in the Bible, marriage is defined as a union between man and woman. Therefore, if you oppose gay marriage, it is based on your belief that a true marriage cannot even take place between two people of the same sex. That does not make you homophobic. It does not mean you hate homosexuals.

If you believe marriage is just a state union, etc. then of course you probably have nothing against gay marriage

Some people completely misunderstand many of those people who do not support gay marriage. It has nothing to do with their feelings towards homosexuals as individuals or as a group. It simply has to do with their belief in what marriage is.

Why do you care how they spend their profits? If you don't like it, don't support them.

So, I don't support gay marriage. It is a biological malfunction of the human body. That's all it is. But some people in this country are filled with political correctness and want so badly to turn this into another black Civil Rights 2.0

Fact : Males are evolved, biologically, to procreate with females. If you are born homosexual and refuse to do that, then you have a malfunction. It is a genetic abnormality, same as being born with a a chemical imbalance in the brain or a 3rd leg or arm.

Agree with all of this. I'm also 100% in favor of sterilizing people who are born with mental disorders or cannot spell. Or black people.

Oops. Am I trying to put forth a biological basis for my personal beliefs again?

7 million people voted against it. Are there less than 14 million people in California?

I am sure a hefty percent of your populations has strong feels against gay marriage as well. There must be some Canadian census with the statistics documented, I'll try to find it.

Is the organization's sole purpose to oppose gay marriage, or is it just an organization which does something else, but isn't in support of gay marriage. If it is the later, why is this even news? People really bug out over the dumbest things.

No, we understand this perfectly. However, we also think that allowing your beliefs to dictate what your fellow citizens may or may not do is a horrible idea.

For the record, marrige was not created as a religious belief. It was a legal issue mainly aimed to associate children with both parents and not just the mother though she gives birth to the child technically. People at the time didn't feel a realtionship itself was strong to determine legal rights to a child for ovious reasons so a legal union was created to solve that. Of course other rights were later established to be associated with marriage but this is the main one.

This is the main basis of many same-sex marriage arguments which is that two people of the same sex can't have children so they shouldn't be married in their eyes. Of course I take issue with this but I will leave this alone for now.
