So Kobe lost 15 pounds and...

Post#1 » by AcecardZ » Tue Aug 7, 2012 12:45 am

It was reported Kobe lost 15lbs prior to the start of the Olympics and quite frankly since the Olympics have started he hasn't looked very good. Am I the only one hoping he gains those 15lbs back? lol

I realize this probably isn't threadworthy but I've yet to see a thread about Kobe since the start of the Olympics and Kobe has looked less than spectacular since they began and while I don't want sound like worry wort if he can't play any better than this I'm not liking the Lakers' chances next year.

And ya in before Deep3 says there's nothing to worry about. :D

He's playing the same as last season. He was 2-6 tonight. He makes one more shot he's 50% FG, better average than he's had in his career. Where's the problem? He's made some bad decisions yeah but i don't see him playing particularly bad. He's not as good as Lebron or Durant anymore and he doesn't need to be. That's not news and not a reason for concern.

More or less that's what I was trying to get at with my post. Father time is closing in on our man and closing in quickly.

yea he's really played a bit poorly. i seriously hope this isnt an indication to come for this upcoming season with steve nash. i think it's part him, part coach k offense. kobe's out on the 3 point line and that's not really his spot. he did miss alot of post ups that he usually hits. but everytime he got the ball tonight, he kept trying to shoot, and didn't look to pass the ball at all. it saw lebron, durant, and cp3 just basically waving him off. tough to watch. i know he'll bounce back next game though, but i hope he can learn to play off the ball a bit more

?

Kobe was 3-10 today, and 1-7 last game. That's horrible.

"He's playing the same as last season" wut... he's on the Olympic team with amazing teammates, why should be play inefficient like on the Lakers last season.

I don't know if I read your post wrong but if I didn't, it really doesn't make sense.

I don't think the 15lbs is as big an issue these Olympics as much as him straight up ballhogging to try to prove some point.

Lol....AcecardZ, I wouldn't put a whole lot of thought into him knocking off 15 lbs. I lost 8 lbs one summer and barely noticed the loss. Secondly I think Kobe is doing just what he should on this team, been laying in the weeds because he knows when the tough gets going next week some of these young stud Olympians won't punch the clock.

Eh I'm not sure about that. Chris Paul, Kevin Durant, and Lebron James will all gladly rise to the moment. When you got those 3 on the floor at the same time you don't need Kobe. I know Kobe usually plays like crap during the Olympics but I sure hope this isn't the type of shooting percentages we see from Kobe come this following season.

Yeah, he's not really needed on this team. Not with LeBron, Durant and Melo playing so well. He's got the token Old Guy role that Kidd had in the last Olympics.

Damn there's so much Kobe hate in here.

As soon as he's back in his groove you'll all be the first ones back tracking on your statements. Relax.

Kobe's going to be fine next season he's used to being the number 1 guy on a team and he's not getting the ball as much as he would like thats why when he does get it he seems to think he needs to prove something. I can't wait to see a lineup of Nash, Kobe, Metta, Pau and Drew :D

kobe is my fav player, hes the reason why i even got into basketball as a young buck but now its more about my lakers and being the best they can be. and sometimes kobe carries too much of the load when 17 years in the league hes just not capable of that anymore, he needs to chill and trust his teammates more.call me crazy but ive rather lose as everybody giving it their all then lose while everybody standing and watching kobe do his thing. again i love me some kobe bryant but i love my lakers more

I think thats why we have a new system that involves moving the ball around and we have Nash so kobe doesnt have to have the ball all of the time, like i said before were going to be fine :D

That would be true if this is a younger Kobe. But Kobe hasn't gotten "back in his groove" for the past 2 years. It's hard for me to believe he'll turn it around in his 17th season when he failed to do it for the past 2 years.

I don't think there's a direct link between how Kobe plays in the qualifying games of the Olympics and how he will play for the Lakers next year... There aren't very many similarities between that team/environment.

A better indication may be how he plays in the Gold medal game or one of the closer/more important games, but even then... Kobe's there to be Yoda... Like it or not, he's the intellectual leader of that team, not the playmaking leader.

Kobe probably won't be wowing us athletically anymore, but one would hope that with the addition of Nash, we could expect at least similar production as last year with slightly better efficiency...

He almost led the league in scoring last season... That's a problem for this team, but a good problem to have in that, Kobe was too productive last season... We need others to step up and him to step back.

If that happens, we'll be fine.
