OT: Best place to propose in Chicago?

If you do it here, make sure it's before 10pm. Some **** cop gave me a ticket seconds after we got there. Only wanted to show the view to a friend who was visiting from France and leaving the next day

A ticket? For what exactly? That's a shame cause it is an amazing view.

Go down by the planetarium on a nice day. It's on a little peninsula shooting out into Lake Michigan and has a great view of the skyline. On a nice day, there will be lots of sailboats.

If you love your girlfriend, you would do it here. It's a great strip of land in between the Shedd Aquarium and the Adler Planetarium. You're overlooking the lake and the entire skyline is right in front of you. One of the most breath taking views of the city. It would also make for a great photo op when you visit.

I actually think the best view is a little walk down from there at the southern end of Northerly Island. There you can see Soldier Field which looks amazing in front of the Chicago Skyline. I bike here every weekend during the summer while training for the Chicago triathlon. It feels like the best kept secret since it is so peaceful on the island.

I haven't got time to reply to everyone individually, but I just wanted to say thank you to everyone who has contributed - there have been some amazing suggestions and its made me realise that I can't go too wrong in Chicago.

(And no, the Jordan statue idea was never a serious one!)

Really looking forward to seeing Chicago in person and getting engaged (hopefully!) this weekend.
