What happened?

argentina's PG threw a nutshot on a carmelo 3.

i guess it was in retaliation for a shot that the same PG got from cp3 in the first half.

Harden disrespectfully shooting that 3 was the most classless thing to happen in that game.

i didnt have a problem with that shot. after the nutpunch, there was no need to be classy and take the 24 second violation.

Eh, I don't know. The shot clock would have run out if he didn't. Could he have just taken the turnover? Sure, but there had been some moderately bad blood up to that point late in the game. Trying to sneakily smack a dude in the marbles is a bit worse in my book than tossing up a shot attempt that ensured the game would mercifully end instead of the officials having to call the violation and Argentina inbounding the ball with .3 on the clock.

I think they should unoffically "officially" take the "good sportsmanship in a blowout" bull**** out of the NBA. It's such a dumb concept- "Yeah we won, we're gonna stop playing even though there's time left."

These players get paid a lot of money to COMPETE... whether you win or lose... and quite frankly, you don't throw in the towel whether you're up by 30 or down by 20... Just shoot the god damn ball if you have an opportunity.

So Harden's shot was just fine. If it fires up Argentina, so be it.

Most the other international teams don't bother with that make-shift 'sign of respect', and NBA/USA shouldn't either.

I'm not saying it was a big deal, I just think it's as big of a dick move than a retaliating nut tap.

I also just dislike James Harden.

There is a big difference between playing to the end, and walking the ball up court pretending to run the clock while the defense surrenders, then suddenly trying to score vs no defense.

so they shouldve taken the shot clock violation and prolonged the ending of the game? i doubt harden was trying to disrespect ARG. if the shot clock wasnt ahead of the game clock, a shot wouldnt have gone up.

I love Chris Paul as a PG, but he's been a dirty nut puncher since college. Both he and Campazzo should be suspended for a game. People get sent home from the Olympics for tweets but no punishment at all for punching another man in the groin? :nonono:

cp3's was just a perimeter check (perimeter block out) when a shot went up. he didnt take aim and deliver a close fisted punch to campazzo's chest. campazzo just folded like a house of cards. he wasnt even looking at him when he "delivered the blow." otoh, campazzo clearly took aim at melo's nuts.

neither deserve punishment though, imo. that'd be lame.

I did see CP3 blocking Campazzo out, so they were already engaged in hand to hand combat, but Paul ended it with an annoying little shot to the stomach. Campazzo's nut punch was just bush league. If you don't punish it now then expect it to keep on going, especially in the medal round and with US and Argentina possibly playing again. You cannot be allowed to punch a man in the nuts without any sort of consequences. It's not a basketball play and has no place in the game, let alone the freaking Olympics.

cp3's blow was akin to a big catching an elbow when fighting for rebounding position. it was a nothing play that ended up with campazzo crumpled to the floor.
campazzo's shot was cheap, slightly gay, but it wasnt malicious. carmelo overreacted. i dunno, i guess i dont care enough to want to see someone suspended for that stuff.

Admittedly, I wasn't aware that the shot clock was on when I made that post.

Westbrook may have a world of talent, but he is a 'dumb' basketballer at times.

**** hell.

Lebron gets all the calls even in a international level.

The arrogant douche goes up for a rebound with one arm, gets it stolen yet its a foul.

Nonsense.
