Oh Jesus, do we have to see Baroni and Pulver and Andrei take more punishment??
Baroni has taken twice the beatings anyone else in MMA has. Just pounded on. What is he doing?

At the time Vera said this, it was somewhat feasible.
He was a stud and people were very high on him.
Not a great quote at any point, but Vera's confidence used to be sky-high,
and that was one of his strengths.
Watch his opposite attitude against T. Silva and Marshall.
J. Jones took his soul.

Nice, I just rewatched Shogun vs. Henderson this morning, for the 100th time. Watching that fight never gets old.

Yeah, but he just reiterated very recently that he still thinks he could do it
You're def right about Jon Jones taking his soul, tho.

JDS told Dana yesterday he has respect for Cain but he doesn't wanna fight him, wants to KO Overeem because he has been acting like a "punk"

I want JDS to smash Overeem more than anyone, but this is an instance where Dana needs to put his foot down and tell JDS that he doesn't decide who he fights. Cain had an impressive win and earned his rematch. Overeem has no one to blame but himself for losing his opportunity.

I agree with you, but its hard to make that argument to JDS when you just let his teammate decline the number one contender like a week ago, and now admit to be waiting for the outcome of another fight so as to make the fight Anderson wants.

He should his put his foot down with Andy too. He's setting a bad precedent already with him and it's clearly having an effect here with JDS. Anderson was the reason I fell in love with MMA, but I'm losing respect for him with the way he's been trying to select his opponents recently. They basically had to force him to fight Chael.

I think at some point Dana's going to have to flex his pudgy muscles a bit and just force guys to fight someone they really don't want to. One thing I like about MMA over boxing is the idea of the champion fighting whoever is put in front of him, not just cherry picking guys. Lately it feels like they have more control/say over their opponents than ever.

Well I can understand that but at the same time as far as JDS is concerned Cain Velesquez only lasted 64 seconds against him in their last fight. What does JDS have to gain from fighting him again? The rematch will only be tougher. Secondly, its kind of unprecedented for a guy to get a rematch with the champion based upon one victory when he lost to the champion in under a minute just b4 that last victory. Technically Fabricio Werdum was also KO'ed in the first round by JDS but he has since gone 5-1 with impressive victories over Fedor, Roy Nelson, Mike Russow and a decision victory over Bigfoot Silva. I think it could be argued that Werdum has done more to warrant a rematch with JDS than Cain. So I can understand where JDS is coming from. With that being said who else is out there that is worthy of a title shot, available and who would sell pay per views? Overeem's still suspended and Cormier is obligated to fight one last time for Strikeforce before going to the UFC. While a rematch with Werdum would probably sell well in Brazil the next Brazil card seems filled already.

Re: Non-threadworthy MMA Rumors/Quotes/Tweets, etc.
The difference between Cain and Werdum is that Cain was the champion and Werdum was not. Champions typically fast-track their way to a rematch after losing the title.

Re: Non-threadworthy MMA Rumors/Quotes/Tweets, etc.
I don't think Cain deserves a rematch at all. That said, its kind of beside the point, JDS shouldn't have a say, just like Anderson shouldn't. Its not like these dudes are vets looking for super fights, they have titles to defend, and the number one contender should not be chosen by the champion.

Oh, Dana:

http://www.bloodyelbow.com/2012/8/6/322 ... t-legality
Here's the thing about TRT. It's absolutely 100% legal. As sports medicine continues to advance, this is one of those things where every guy's testosterone level starts to drop as they get older and this is basically sports science now where they can bring it back up to a normal level. And I think it's great, it's absolutely fair, it's legal. The problem is, there are guys who say if this much is good THIS MUCh must be great, so you have guys who are always trying to do more than they're supposed to do. The big job is policing it, making sure that it's not being abused, that guys are using it the way it's supposed to be used.
We're also only a month removed from Dana saying:...to me, the bottom line is you don't need that junk. If you don't abuse stuff younger in your career, you'll never need to use that junk."

Someone posted this guy's first impersonation video a while back. The impersonator was on The MMA Hour this week. If you haven't seen it, check this out:

This is all subject to change, of course, but apparently, "The Spider" is kicking around the notion of vacating the middleweight title and moving down to welterweight to challenge division champion Georges St. Pierre for a superfight we know the promotion is already hoping to put together assuming "Rush" is able to defeat Carlos Condit when they tussle at UFC 154 in November.
