All in all, don't worry about these Olympics... we're not going to get the best Jonas Valanciunas we expect this upcoming season... he's a big man... it'll take him time.. but once he gets it and understands the NBA and his abilities... he will easily be the best Raptor big man we've ever known to date - better than CB4. Mark my words.

Bold words , but im not disagreeing with you . I do think he'll be better in noah in 2 years , the pick and roll game is heavy right now in the nba , and i think his impact will be felt from day 1 in that department . The way he rolls to the basket , is gonna get are shooters open looks , even if he does'nt always get the ball. But better then Bosh ...... Iunno

When I say better than Bosh, I mean with the amount of impact he'll have on WINNING with this franchise. He does everything you want a winning big man to do (shot blocking, rebounding, while being an active help defender)... he just needs time to understand and improve. He has all the intangibles, puls we've seen his abilities to shoot the ball pretty well. He can already hit that 15 foot jumper pretty well. What he needs to work on is his back to the basket game.

That will come with strength... his body has a good frame to it, so he can add strength in the areas needed most by big men. His legs are stronger than his upper body right now, which is a good sign. The footwork part of it down low will also come with experience. When he faces guys with great footwork like Al Jefferson he'll learn from them. He has a good willingness to learn and become great. He'll be watching a lot of tape and he'll be coached well. He has everything he needs to be a great big man in our teams history.

I laughed at that statement as well. Bosh is a 7 time all star already.

We need to try and lower our expectations for Jonas, you think as Raptor fans we would have learned after hyping up Bargnani and Demar.

i hear you and agree 100% . In terms of Winning ,and how far we go in the playoffs , He wont be a better player then bosh , but i think his impact and stuff he does on the court , could have us in the second round the next 2 are 3 years, maybe even further depending how he devlops.

Can't really see how he may not succeed at NBA tbh. Worst case he will be a ~12/10 guy in a couple of years. At his age he is one of the best C prospects from Europe in the last decade.
It is a bit sad that Kemzura under-uses him that much, but this experience will help him I think, he will grow balls faster this way, when not everything is put on a plate for him.
I really think that coaching is on a much higher level in NBA and he will benefit a lot from working with Raptors coaching staff where their priority will be to develop him and be patient about it.
In Europe it's the instant results that matter the most as coaches don't have the luxury of waiting for a couple of years for a player to start producing.

My expectations for his rookie season are something like 9ppg/6rpg/1.5bpg in 20-25mins.
He should be a solid starting center by his 22-23rd birthday.

Bosh 7 time all star is a good thing for our bigs, you read that and understand how low is the talent level of today nba

Jonas is the player who make the different... especialy in the D.... But Kemzūra is total ****** and Jonas played only 15 minutes. I hope that was a last game when Kemzūra is our national team coach.

***New JV Article***
http://blogs.thescore.com/raptorblog/20 ... iscussion/

Any Raptors fan or Lithuanian basketball supporter who has watched Lithuania’s Olympic group stage games is disappointed with the lack of tangible results or playing time Jonas Valanciunas has seen thus far in London.
At the end of the day, we’re talking about a two-week tournament in which Valanciunas is one of the five youngest players present. His game obviously needs to develop, but anyone worried that his performance in London is an indication that he isn’t ready for the NBA needs to settle down. What we’re simply looking at here is a promising young big man at the beginning of a long learning curve.

Much more to read...haven't read it yet myself

Bosh had no effect on making players on his team better. Matters not that he has seven all star appearances, as that just shows how aggressive Raptor fans were at suffing the ballot box.

either lithuanian coach is idiot or he is not controlling team.
songalia cant even crack rotation in turkish league when he was playing here but he is play,ng major minutes in national team is enough example to understand why lithuania sucks this tournement.

you guys shouldnt wory about valenciunas, I watched him all year. He is gona be beast in couple of years.

pacers fan from europe

Completely wrong....CB was not once voted in by the fans. All of his selections were made by the coaches and he only started the all-star game in 06, I believe because he replaced someone (JO ?) do to injury.
