I posted that in the other thread, wasn't sure where to put it. Let's look at the evidence we have of this:

1) Machida comes in underweight
2) Machida said yesterday his next opponent didn't necessarily have to be Bones. Why even leave doubt unless you have other plans?
3) Soares wanted to "talk to Dana" after asked if Machida was going to middleweight
*The above works as evidence considering that Machida/Silva would never consider fighting.
4) Silva has been calling out GSP
5) On his show yesterday, Ariel dropped a hint of this. He said he wouldn't say why or elaborate in any way, but the next division title to change hands would be the MW division. Inside info?
6) Silva and his mgmt have been vocal about their disinterest in any mw or lhw contenders

I'd rather see someone move down in weight for a superfight than anyone move up. I'd actually rather the latter not even happen at all, it's such a disadvantage.

Oh, sorry Redd, didn't see that.

What kind of cut would that be for Andy? I mean, if GSP can explode on takedowns like he used to,
I'd be worried about Silva's endurance and power.
Always a dangerous striker, but GSP is an animal when it comes to getting you down.

I think they look seriously at Diaz/Silva at 170 as well.

And, I need one more win from Weidman to see him get a shot at the MW strap.

Munuz and Maia are not good enough.

Problem is, who is left......apart from Mr. Sonnen........

This.

If Anderson moves down, I'm VERY excited for the match.
If GSP were to move up, I'd still be excited, but would expect the weight advantage to be tremendous and Silva to get the W.

Man...I really want this to happen now.

I think GSP would take it, due to Silva's tank.
That is if GSP is 100. If he's not, forget about it. If Silva stuffs him a few time, he'd KO the hell out of him.

Diaz vs Silva wouldn't even be a contest imo. Silva can destroy any striker in MMA not in the HW division.

Silva also might want to fight BJ at 170, considering that BJ is the Bess.

It's funny because BJ would probably be all over that.

Probably, he fought Machida in an open weight bout in Japan, and lost a decision. Machida was 225 lb, Penn 191 in that match.

More fuel to the fire?

http://blogs.thescore.com/mma/2012/08/0 ... son-silva/

“Georges St-Pierre told me he wants (to fight Anderson Silva). But right now he has to get back on the horse and fight Carlos Condit and be champion again. He needs to keep focused.

“(If the Silva fight happens) ideally I’d like a catch weight. I think it’d be more fair. If you fight at a catch weight, Silva won’t be 20 pounds heavier. 177 or 178 pounds is much more fair.”

I wonder if Silva would rather the catch weight, or if he thinks he can get to 170, in which case it's a title fight.
It would way more difficult, maybe not even possible, but the idea of adding another title to your resume has to be tempting.
If he were to do that, win, vacate the title, take some time off for a minute, and Jones decides to go to HW or is beat, he could arguably have one more match at LHW down the road and get that belt as well haha.
That's a perfect storm scenario and not going to happen, but still.

I think that RotR that Silva fought in just before the UFC was like 175 or something.

he might want to leave this to the management team. this is poor for negotiations. 'ideally' a catch-weight, instead of 185?

GSP cannot take this fight at 185, it would be stupid. make Anderson lose 5-10.

You mean 180?

I hope this fight gets a 177 lb limit, so GSP can gain 7 lbs and Anderson can drop 7 to 178 with the 1 lb grace limit.

Chael Sonnen tweets "It's not "catch weight" it's a "grudge weight." I'll fight him at a GRUDGE WEIGHT OF 200lbs. I don't care about him enough to cut to 185."

https://twitter.com/sonnench/status/233364318937284608

Speculation is that he will be fighting Wand as Wand released this statement today:

"Very soon a big surprise will come. I may be back in December."

Zuffa must love their little rivalry. It makes a main event non-title fight out of two guys that should be out of the main event picture.

Chael better not go all smother/pitter patter ground game with Wandy.

You want to get in there with a legend like that, who you've trashed,
stand with him and touch his chin.

Sonnen is playing a dangerous game, IF, he goes back on the Brazil-bashing routine.
I'm not sure it's as funny the second go around.

Would LOVE to see Wandy knock out Chael, but alas, Sonnen is super tough.

There is no way that Chael turns into a boxer and forgets about wrestling against any fighter. "You dance with the one that got you to the dance."
