Look everybody has been comparing Durant to Melo lately. This is a great opportunity to compare them. In the same tourney Durant has 20 assists to roughly the same number of FGA.

I think it's pretty clear that somebody doesn't like coming off the bench and is trying to prove it by scoring a lot.

Pharm, you've been here long enough to know that we have posters here that are very good at reading people's emotions on the court.

If you have to put the smiley face that means it wasn't funny on it's own merit.

Durant has also been playing SF and Melo has been playing PF, and at times, C --> meaning, he has been on the receiving end of the passes and the ball is not in his hands as much on the perimeter. He's either spotting up on the perimeter as a catch and shoot guy, or bullying players in the paint.

I don't have a link but I saw an interview after the game where Sager asked him how he felt about coming off the bench and Melo basically said "some games I start some games I come off the bench". Which is interesting because he hasn't started any games.

So how come half his shots have been from 3?

He was starting in the games before the Olympics, while Durant came off the bench...

63 FGA and 4 assists. But then again, he is not really playing with talented players.

Didn't know Melo was the primary playmaker for the USA team. Here I thought he was asked to just score. 17.3 points on 57.1% shooting, phuck that

So what your saying is that he is one dimensional. All kidding aside, there is a big gap between being a "primary playmaker" and 16 FGA per assist.

His role is to come in off the bench and score. He is scoring 17.3 PPG in 16.5 minutes a game. Complaining about him doing the role assigned him about as well as you can ask for is just hating.

OK. I'll go start a thread "Tyson Chandler is a great jump shooter". If you disagree with me you're just a hater.

Where does it say his role is to take more jump shots at a higher rate than anybody else on the team? That's the way he plays - it's nothing to do about a role.

So a coach is supposed to come out and say as much? Really? I've found him saying that his teammates are telling him to be the bench scorer and coaches saying he's a very good scorer/is one of the best (international) players.

"Well, the support system that we had, that I had with my teammates, you can't explain that," Anthony said. "The way that they tell me to shoot the ball, encouraging me to make shots, take shots, but then just to feel it every time, that touch, it's kind of hard to explain it. If you've never done it, you really wouldn't understand what I'm talking about just in terms of shooting the ball and shooting it well."

http://nbcsports.msnbc.com/id/47680482/ns/sports/

Every article on team USA, and Melo's role, lists him as the 6th man/bench scorer. That's not enough, I guess.

Also, I was questioning your comment on Chandler...it makes no sense and is completely irrelevant.

Blind hatred isn't a good look.

So how do you know it's his role? Show where on the Team USA website it says his role is "bench scorer".

That quote you pulled was from after the Nigeria game where he got hot from 3. Yeah, if your hot from 3 people tell you to keep shooting. It has nothing to do about a role.

And again with this blind hatred ****. If all you want to do is root for the team why don't you go to Knicks.com or CarmeloAnthony.com and go watch the promotional videos by the marketing people. If you can't stand someone having a different opinion that means you are not so solid in your convictions.

So, his role is not to score on Team USA?

Jesus Christ. Do you see on ANY basketball websites any player listed with his role? This isn't 2K where you actually see designated roles.

Who cares when the quote was pulled from? He started the first exhibition game, IIRC, but was then replaced by Durant -- they literally just swapped roles. Melo became the 6th man and Durant became the starter.

I can stand people have a differing opinion... What I can't stand is people disliking a player based on nothing and constantly reaching with his/her (moot) points.

No. He needs to pass the ball and look pretty (fat).
