What is a fair contract for Gee?

Post#1 » by fart » Thu Aug 9, 2012 3:09 am

I think last year he proved himself as a legit starting SF in the league. I believe he is currently our 2nd best player and he will continue to improve even more in the coming years. I see him being a 16/5 player with good defense. I would rather give him a fair contract this season and lock him up for the next 5 years rather then risking him taking the QO and having a breakout year and demanding a ridiculous contract next summer. I think a fair contract would be 5 years, $25 million, I think this is a good contract for him and it would be good for us to lock up the starting SF spot with a young player that hasn't reached his prime yet. What do you think?

5 year 25 million is way too much. I dont think hes worth 5 million a season, and definitely not for 5 years. A 5 year 18 million dollar contract would be much more fair.

I don't think he should be a starter, but I do like the guy.

Gee is not a starting SF maybe in the future but not now, and he is defiantly not worth 5 years, $25 million
Gee is a solid player and i like his upside, so i would think 5-10 mil would be better

Hes not our second best player, hes not a 16-5 player and hes not worth 25/5.

Contract wise, i dunno. 12 over 3 or 4 years?

Yet another example of fart's amazing eye for talent. I like Gee as much, if not more than, most people, and I think he is proving to be a legit rotation player, but a starter he is not at this point.

10.6/5.1/1.8 (41.2%/32.1%/78.8%) with good defense is not exactly starter material. I expect Gee to improve, but time will tell with that one. As for the question at hand, I would say 3 years, $12 million total, with the third year being a player option is fair.
Well at least we're not Detroit!

Pretty close to what I was going to suggest. Offer him 3 years at 10 million and a player option for year 3. That way if he plays well he is only two more years from getting a bigger contract.

3 million a year. I like the 3yr 10 million deal. I think its fair but I think his agent is looking for alot more. He may just sign a qualifying offer and then hit the market next year as URFA. I do not want to lose Gee but I am not overpaying for him either. Guys like Gee can be found there is no reason to overpay for them.

I like the 3yr 10million suggestions with a player option. I'm betting he would pick it up too. He has room to improve his shooting and passing but overall this is not going to be a transformational improvement.

Sources telling me Cavs have a 3 year deal, worth approx 10 million on table for Alonzo Gee. #Cavs

His numbers do not exactly improve when starting either.

What, you think things like a SF shooting below 40% as a starter is average? This is something we should reward Gee for? Keep in mind I want us to resign Gee, but let's not be ridiculous and make him out to be something he is not at this point.

This makes some sense.

Every wing out there keeps getting linked to Cleveland - Miles (obviously legit), Delfino, Tolliver, etc. Money elsewhere is drying up and while I don't blaim Gee for looking for a better offer its tough to blaim the Cavaliers for playing hardball and trying to scare him toward their deal.

Nick Cage laughing doesn't make Gee a better player. He's a fringe starter for sure. I can't see more than three years and he's not going to get starter money.

2 Yr - 7 Million
or
3 Yr - 10 Million

sound fair.

Fart has officially gone off the deepend. If Gees starter material hes bottom 3 SF starter material.

I only been here for a short time, but Fart is either a horrible troll or just a idiot.
