MN - SAC - UTAH

Post#1 » by Krapinsky » Thu Aug 9, 2012 12:58 am

I was trying to think of other packages of players we could get for Williams + Ridnour/Barea. I came up with this:

MN OUT: Williams + Ridnour/Barea
MN IN: Tyreke + Chuck Hayes

UTAH OUT: Raja Bell
UTAH IN: Ridnour/Barea

SAC OUT: Tyreke + Hayes
SAC IN: Williams + Raja Bell

Bell gets shipped to Utah who could use a PG much more than Sacramento. The Wolves 'roll the dice' on Tyreke (a past known fave of Kahn) and get an Adelman favorite in Hayes that can provide a lot of what Varejao would have. Sacramento does it because they are probably not going to resign Tyreke the way it's going over there and they didn't use Hayes much there last year. Williams allow them to go big with a front court of Williams/Robinson/Cousins or smaller with Williams playing PF.

Wolves:

Rubio (36)/Barea(12)/Lee
Roy (24)/Evans (24)/Shved
Kirilenko (30)/Budinger (18)
Love (36)/Hayes (12)/Cunningham
Pekovic (30)/Steamer (15)/Hayes (3)

Hayes becomes the emergency back up center. Shved becomes the odd man out his rookie year and only fills in when one of the PG and SG in the rotation get hurt.

I would do that, fits what we would need at the back up big spot. Not crazy about Evans but I'm also not crazy about Williams.

Utah couldn't do that due to cap space, and even if they could, they wouldn't. Why would they take on 8 million dollars of bad contracts if they aren't getting anything decent in return?

Edit: oh I see Ridnour or Barea. Still, Utah would be better served with Bells expiring contract than Ridnour or Barea. But it makes sense now.

I think I'd rather play Shved than Reke to be honest.

This. The other piece would need to be a little more capable at reserve center for the deal. Add in Tyreke Evans is about to get paid as well, someone is going to overpay.

Chuck Hayes is the type of guy who would fit what we need from our last big, and could play next to Love, Pek, or Williams.

Ridnour could be a Jimmer mentor, and would be close to family in the Northwest, or Barea could be a Isaiah mentor.

Plus, I can see why Kahn/Adelman would call Hayes a significant pickup. Kahn likes Evans, and this could be a nice opportunity for Tyreke to learn from Roy. With his contract up, give him an audition since Roy isn't guaranteed past this season. Gives us a surer thing at SG while Ricky gets healthy too.

At first I wasn't sure about the Tyreke part, but I may be talking myself into it.

Plus if Ridnour or Barea is heading out, Evans would get plenty of time to play 1 or 2. Again, I'm not a huge fan of him, but Roy would be a great mentor for a guy like Evans. Hayes would just be a bonus since he is Adleman's main man.

Really? Reke may have dropped off a bit, but he could get back to that rookie season 20-5-5 form in the right situation. Shved has looked worse by the game in the Olympics.

I'd rather have Varejao for 2 years and Cleveland's 2014 pick personally. Evans doesn't really do much for me.

That's a bit of a stretch. Doubt we'd get Cleveland's 2014 1st pick tbh.

I'd be happy to trade Derrick Williams for Tyreke. I'm not too high on the latter, but not high at all on the former. Chuck Hayes could also fit in as the 5th/6th big. I'd do it.

It would suck so bad to wake up and find you'd been traded to Sacramento.

Last year Rubio, Love, and Pekovic missed a combined 55 games. Kirilenko and Roy don’t exactly have the most durable bodies, so this provides an insurance policy in the event that one of the 5 starters goes down.

I’d reluctantly pull the trigger as long as the team traded Barea instead of Ridnour.

Because Kevin Love plays William's best position, Tyreke plays a position of long term need and arguably has a higher ceiling (IMO).

Risk reward never works out. This is like trading for beasley. Tyreke has a career 51 ts%. It isn't like this guy is good at all even though he won the roty (which should have been given to stephen curry).. There is as much value in tyreke evans as in beasley. Would you trade derrick williams for michael beasley?

Williams had a .499% TS% last year and that was while playing a lot of time at PF.

Evans and Beasley aren't comparable at all so I'm not even sure what to say to that.

They aren't except they are exclusively talked about how much potential they have. They are awful defensively, and are inefficient scorers. They also have inexplicable love on these forums about how they are going to have a break through year aftter every single disappoitning year. I would trade tyreke for our pick top 10 protected this year and luke ridnour. Anyhing of more value is overpaying him

Tyreke would be a massive upgrade defensively. A bit of a ball hog though, not sure how he'd do without having the ball in his hands.
