Died trying to save his wife, he went out a true hero in my eyes. Rest his spirit and God bless his family.

Round field was a truly great Hawk. How was a rebounder and shot blocker second to none! He and Tree Rollins John Drew fast Eddie johnson and almond Hill were a great team. RIP

Funeral Friday for ex-Hawks star Dan Roundfield

A funeral is planned Friday in Norcross for NBA veteran Dan Roundfield.

The former Atlanta Hawk spent 11 seasons in the NBA and had three consecutive All-Star seasons. He drowned Aug. 6 off the Caribbean island of Aruba while helping his wife as she struggled in rough water. He was 59.

The Hawks announced that his funeral will be at 10 a.m. Friday at Hopewell Missionary Baptist Church in Norcross. The service is open to the public.

Viewing will be from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m. Thursday at Gregory B. Levett and Sons Funeral Home in Lawrenceville.

Roundfield was a 6-foot-8 center who started his pro career at Indiana and then played at Atlanta, Detroit and Washington. He was an All-Star in 1980, 1981 and 1982 while playing for the Hawks. http://www.ajc.com/sports/atlanta-hawks ... 99623.html
