Kobe's Olympic Number

Post#1 » by addygrace » Thu Aug 9, 2012 4:58 pm

Did Kobe get to pick his Olympic number?

Does anybody find it weird Kobe's regular season number and Olympic number are 24 and 10?
I can accept failure, everyone fails at something. But I can't accept not trying Michael Jordan

Not at all. The majority of the players do not use their regular season numbers and some have switched from tournament to tournament.

Kobe's a huge soccer fan and in soccer number 10 is often reserved for the best player.

If I remember correctly, you can only pick between 4 and 20 in FIBA basket, thus the 24 being unavailable to Kobe.

Probably. Can't imagine anyone cares too much about it though.

in some way, lol yes.

The #10 is reserved for the most technical midfielder and usually that guy is the best player on a team. The tradition started with Pele in 1958.

Some of the greatest that wore the #10 shirt:

Pelé #10, Maradona #10, Ronaldinho #10, Zidane #10, rivelino #10, Messi #10 , eusébio #10, gerson #10, Rivaldo #10, Laudrup #10, Baggio #10, Platini #10, etc.

#10 is most definitely used by the best player on the team in most cases. its why kobe picked #10.

Yeah, other than 10, 9 also a good number, reserved for the best striker in the team, but still can't beat number 10 popularity though.
