Former NBA and Morehouse College guard Harold Ellis begins his first season as an assistant coach with the Detroit Pistons. He spent the last six seasons as a minor league coordinator/scout with the Atlanta Hawks. Prior to his time with Atlanta, Ellis served as an assistant coach in 2001-02 on the inaugural staff of the NBA Development League's Roanoke Dazzle. In 2006, Ellis coached the Rome (GA) Gladiators of the World Basketball Association (WBA) to their second consecutive league title. He earned coach of the year honors in the process for the second straight time and led the club to a 42-6 mark during that span. He was also the team's general manager and was named by ProBasketballNews.com as the second-best coaching talent in the minors. Additionally, Ellis has spent time coaching with Rockford (CBA) and Las Vegas (IBL).
A former pro player in four leagues (the NBA, Continental Basketball Association, U.S. Basketball League and Greece), he is a 1992 graduate of Morehouse College. Ellis averaged 5.8 points in three NBA seasons with the L.A. Clippers (1993-94 and '94-95), where he was a teammate of Hall-of-Famer Dominique Wilkins, and Denver Nuggets.
An outstanding NCAA Division II player who led the Maroon Tigers in scoring in each of his four seasons (1988-92), Ellis became only the fifth player from a historically black college or university (HBCU) to have his uniform number retired (#30). Morehouse had a 90-30 record during his four years as a player there.
Ellis, the son of educators, has a Master's degree in sports management and administration from the U.S. Sports Academy in Daphne, AL and is pursuing a Ph.D. in sports psychology at the San Diego University for Integrative Studies. He recently served as Director of College Counselors at the adidas Basketball Experience in 2007 and has participated in the NBA's Basketball Without Borders Africa tour for the last four summers.

There is no deal to speak of yet, just discussions - and not all scenarios include Gasol leaving Los Angeles. HW has learned there are variations of the rumored deal being discussed that does not include Gasol but hav a similar structure with Bynum to Phi, Iguodala to Den, Howard to LA & Afflalo to Orl. It’s unclear if Harrington is in that scenario. Additionally LA said to have Josh McRoberts and Devin Ebanks (via sign and trade) as outgoing salary for a Howard deal.

For those wondering, I can't speak to anything being imminent, but there is a confidence that a Howard deal gets done. More so than before.

Who is IncarceratedBob?
Earvin Magic Johnson @MagicJohnson
If the 4 team trade involving @DwightHoward happens, every team (@Lakers, Magic, 76ers & Nuggets) win in the deal.
