Ken Berger ‏@KBergCBS
Two of the sources caution that they have not heard directly from Orlando management that the Magic have agreed to the deal.

This is what Devos has turned this team into. We are the joke of the league.

So we're building around Hedo and Meer now. Good lord. We really are tanking for the #1 pick!

**** ESPN and Philly better be giving up Harkless.

Anyone thinking we should've hired Tom Penn instead? New GM in Philly.

I'm still ride or die for the Magic.

Nothing says 'I won this trade' more than landing the #59 pick in the 2016 draft.

There's no point in delaying the tank. Might as well do it in a draft with some talented bigs. Whatever, it's over...

Lol.

We also took on the most long term salary of any team involved.

How's that spice up the marinade?

Unless Denver's waives the physical for Iggy, I don't think this will happen soon. Cause Iggy is at London

We suck,.

Affalo is a pretty good player. He would especially be good next to a center like Dwight or Bynum. Lets not take our anger out on him. He's improved every year...if Rob wanted a fresh start maybe thats the kind of vet he wanted around. Definitely a very solid starter.

Since Affalo is 27 I would consider his "breakout" potential as very limited. I do not think Vucevic will "breakout" either. Harkless we just have to hope he can become a serviceable player first before anything.

I'm not a big fan of this trade because without any additional lottery picks the Magic will really have to nail their draft picks over the next 4 years. Those who have been in favor of rebuilding by tanking, this could be the team to put tanking to the test.

I still think Bynum > this package but oh well

on August 9th, 2012, Rob Hennigan officially became the worst GM in the history of professional basketball when he traded Dwight Howard to the Los Angeles Lakers for 2 Diet Cokes and a bag of Lays potato chips

People really going to blame Rob right? i mean it's not like he has to get permission from the Devos's and Alex before he can make a deal.....oh wait he does....then....then...that would mean that it's not all on Rob head? come on guys if we have to blame then blame the entire organization.....this decision doesn't fall on one man....either way this is a tough one to swallow....if the deal goes down with the pieces that's being reported then i would like to know what frame of mind the organization was in when they Ok'd the deal......

mattyBoi wrote:Magicfan41 seriously where do you see that we clear cap space? Show me and I will gladly admit you are right, but I'm pretty sure your talking out of your ass.

You do understand that it's about cap space year to year right? Not total salary? We owed Gilbert $60 mil last year to NOT play, that was salary....but that doesn't matter as it didn't affect cap room. So your question is how to we clear any cap room after making this trade vs not making this trade yeh? Right away (which is sorta irrelevant because there aren't any free agents to go after now anyways)....if we give up Dwight, JRich, Duhon, Clark (obv exact pieces haven't been named but that's prob close)....then we get rid of:

(this year, next year)
Dwight ($19.5, $21)
JRich ($5.8, $6.2)
Duhon ($3.25, $1.5)
Clark ($1.2 or something, $0)

That's $29.75 this year, $28.7 next year We bring in:

Afflalo ($7.75, $7.75)
Harrington ($6.7, $3.6)
Vucevic ($1.7, $0)
Harkless ($1.7, $1.7)

So this year we would pay $17.85 ($12 mil less) and next summer $13.05 ($15.7 mil less). How is this not clearing cap room? Where is your hangup?

I'll be curious to see if any of the pieces change in the morning. Philly would rather not give up Harkless, but Magic love him.
