Miami potentially has 2 First Round Picks in 2013

Post#1 » by raps_aviator » Fri Aug 10, 2012 4:52 am

So Andrew Bynum Is going to Philadelphia which means Philly is making the playoffs. They had a top 14 protected draft pick and if they are 7th to 8th seed in the East, Miami gets 14-16th pick. Miami will have their own 28th- 30th pick.

Yup, good news for us on that front.

Hopefully Philly barely makes the playoffs so it's a better pick.

Don't we have to send one of them to Cleveland?

^ Yeah, you're right. :( I'm guessing it's our actual pick, not the one Philly owes us - which is good since our pick will likely be in the 27-30 range.

Cavs receive the Heat 2013 first-round pick (top 10 protected in 2013 and 2014, unprotected in 2015) (LeBron James trade 07-09-10)

Heat receive the 76ers' 2013 first-round pick (lotto protected 2013,'14,'15) If first round pick has not been received by 2015 becomes 2015 and 2016 second rounders. (#27 pick trade, Moultrie) (Arnett Moultrie trade 06-28-12)

So the Philadelphia pick it is.

Yeah it'll still be great to have the Philly pick once they're the 8th seed this season :D

a top 16 pick will be so valuable to us! We need to get young and athletic too and also there are so many bigs in the draft.
The draft is not too deep and since we can`t keep our pick(28-30), we can package 15+ Norris Cole to move up or make a really nice trade for a proven young player.

Let's just hope Philly sucks and gets the 13th pick in the lottery. That's the best we can do. The pick is Top12 protected. PEACE.

Yea this pick is very valuable to a title contender, we obviously wont keep it but it allows Riley to have another asset to trade with.

out of curiosity, why did they give away like 7 picks for LeBron and Bosh? Is it because you HAVE to pay first round picks or?

It allowed Miami to do a sign and trade versus signing them out right. Which meant the players could get better deals, and raps/Cavs knew they were losing their guys so figured why not get some first round picks..

Also, I believe with Raptors we gave them two picks but one was already theirs.

It's either a good trading piece or a decent mid-first round pick to try and get a legit big.

The threat though is Bynum's knees. If he misses significant time next year with the knees, Philly will suck and it will be a lottery pick next year.

If it ends up being a mid round pick, we should draft LeBryan Nash.

I thought that this was a joke and it was some sort of anagram of Kobe, Nash and Lebron, until I googled him.

I'm sorry I'm not from the US so I don't know much about college basketball.

Knowing Riley, if he's given a good deal or opportunity to make the Heat a much better team, he'll trade the pick...

I still think we'll end up using the Philly pick as a trade chip.
