I agree. I'm still hoping that there's more to this that we'll find out after that morning conference call.

I've been on and off with realgm since 7:30 and now it's 12:30 pacific time. We just happen to be mere fans who have no control over such things. Despite frustration from certain Magic fans and especially Laker haters out there, not point in getting worked up over things that we have no control over. Hopefully you're not living in LA like a non-Laker fan like me whom would deal with non stop pestilence from Laker fan friends for at least the next 2-3 years. When I wake up the next morning and get ready for work, a dream scenario is that Orlando management get cold feet and call the trade off. The definition of "trolling" would have a whole new meaning by then...

I'm hoping I go to sleep and wake up at four in the afternoon and I find out that we are actually getting Bynum and Iggy.

From what i've gathered thus far on Henny and how he handles things, THIS just isn't his style.

I mean, the "sources" that have broken this story claim they can't even get a confirmation from ANYONE inside the Magic organization.

My take, tonight could be a way of seeing the reaction (positive or negative) and kind of national publicity/attention a trade like this can make. So far, Hennigan and Magic have been put on BLAST like no other. Either this deal happens, though their are other players/pieces involved OR Magic back out at last minute (conference call w/ NBA).

I see the plan (so far) though my homer goggles are pretty thick, but the "casual fan" will have no part of this no matter how great the explanation may sound.

Maybe, but it still doesn't do anything to sweeten the deal.

Seems very plausible given that the current framework of this "done deal" doesn't work salary-wise, especially with the latest rumor of Christian Eyenga being involved. With Blake, I think the numbers actually work.

A Jameer/Blake/Ish backcourt is certainly an upgrade than from year's past, but I know this is the least of anyone's interest at the moment.

Just read that 2 of the 3 draft picks we get won't even come next year. Philly's pick is in 2015 and LA's is in 2017.

It just gets better and better.

That probably is better. Both of those teams are going to make the playoffs next season, barring injuries. Three years from now, who knows what Philly looks like? 5 years from now, Kobe, Gasol and Nash will have retired, and L.A is a very different team. Who knows what their team will be and what sort of record they might have.

Having some sort of shot at a really good pick in those years is better than simply settling for a couple of picks in the 20s next year.

But the picks are reportedly protected. So if L.A. or Philly is bad when these picks are available, we will not get them anyway. This sucks all around.

I keep telling myself this is a smokescreen or we are not getting the full info on the deal because this is a terrible deal brokered by Hennigan any way you look at it. Can Hennigan be this ignorant? Do I smell DeVos again? Something does not add up here. Does this sound right to you guys? I mean if Hennigan is as savvy as we have been lead to believe he is (and I have my doubts), does he do this deal?

Man i can't read all this motherufkcker y'all are bitching like crazy why are you all so mad. It's better than what Cavs got and look where the Cavs are now. Really poised for something special. I like this trade, would've wanted more but it's alright. SHABBAZZ

Depends on the level of bad, and the level of protection, though. If they're in the 5-6 pick range, and the picks are only top-3 protected, we'd get them.

The deal does suck, but any deal was going to suck at the end of the day. I just want to wait and see the exact ins and outs before I condemn it, and even then, this is clearly the beginning of a full rebuild, so it wouldn't be right to pass total judgement for a year or two.

Let's wait to see what the protection is before judging. It could just be top 3 or something like that

A 2017 Lakers pick only top 3 protected is pretty valuable. Obviously everyone assumes they'll always get stars but without Kobe or someone like him already there I think the draw really lessens. Dwight will probably be broken down by then and they're obviously not going to draft anyone between now and then. That pick would certainly have the potential to be very good

I'd be surprised if the protections on those picks were anything more than top 10. We're getting fleeced as it is. I can't imagine Hennigan settling for highly protected picks. Remember, his whole schtick is drafting teh superstars.

Exactly. From what people have said, building from the ground up is what he wants to do. Minimal protection on picks was probably one of the things he wasn't willing to budge on.

I'm okay with this trade. We all have to realize that we are going to be really bad before we get really good. Our future is essetially being built around Harkless, Nicholson, Afflalo, and the lottery picks we're going to get the next few years.

I'm excited about our future! As for next season, who' ready for Heart 'n' Hustle 2.0??!!!!

Afflalo, Jameer, Redick, Baby, Nicholson! I can't wait! We actually have a TEAM that we can root for now!

So long to the diva! You will fit right in in Hollywood you fake!
I like this team
