All I can say is that I'm glad that the team can move forward.

It was all a lie. We were never part of the dwightmare pursuit. The plan was and will continue to be operation tankage.

Oh well lets trade martin for a bag of chips and get this tank rolling.

That reported trade looks like ass for ORL.

I wouldn't celebrate yet until the trade is official if I were you.

Since '96. What a joke of franchise that team is.

At the same time, I'm glad we didn't trade for Howard.

Lakers just got themselves another championship. Kobe will be MVP.

Sucks to be a Miami fan right now.

I wonder how Orlando fans feel about the "value" they got in return. I personally liked the Nets offer waaayy better. (Lopez, Humphries, Brooks, 4 first rnd picks).

^ I disagree. Lakers are better than the Heat IMO. Heat have no size to stop Dwight or Gasol. Same with the Thunder.

Lakers over Heat in 6

Think the Lakers will fall apart in the playoffs.

Maybe they will win it the following year

The proposed trade is complete ass for Orlando, and the only way I can make sense of this debacle is to buy into the conspiracy nonsense and pretend the Magic are angling for a first-overall pick next offseason. Who knows? It's about as likely as a newly-minted GM making his first major move a blunder of this magnitude.

Still, this isn't too troublesome, since it means we can focus on tanking / having our stud rooks develop. The one lingering question for me, however, is "Why the hell did we sign Asik?" His contract is bloated, he certainly won't help us tank (although he's not much of a positive either), and I can't see him as a long-term asset. An otherwise perfect offseason (Hennigan incompetence notwithstanding) blemished by this one bad deal. Someone help me make sense of this.

I think it was Lars that said OKC had Durrant and Westbrook and still got the 4th. Our best players are Lin, Asik and Martin  with a bunch of rookies and young vets :D . The Magic is going to have a fight for the worst team in the NBA

One key point to note is the flexibility of Rockets with the current team rosters. Rockets have the cap room to make a significant trade with Kevin Martin's expiring contract if the right opportunity arises. If that trade happen then Asik's rim protection will be useful as it is difficult to find that rim protection in the current market.

Another point is Rockets will not be good this coming season, but they can be very decent next season just with the development of the rookies and the understanding among the players. Add the fact that Rockets have the cap room to sign a Max player next season, Asik again will be a useful player next season. The price of Asik is very reasonable for the rim protection that he bring to Rockets.

Morey has always said the 1 and 5 positions are the harder to fill. He believe he has built the foundation with Lin and Asik and will be easier to add star/Max player next season.

And the Magic take on Harrington? That basically defeats the purpose of "dumping Richardson."

But yes, I'm glad that we can finally move on, even though it IS the Lakers..

"Ass" seems to be an understatement.
Damned Lakers just got another lopsided trade.

Just try telling me that the league isn't rigged. No way is Orlando's new GM (or owner) that stupid.
