It's cruel to taunt Wanderlei, I think it would backfire. He's too meatheaded.

Veteran mixed martial artist Frank Trigg has been arrested in Nevada on one charge of battery domestic violence with strangulation.
ProMMANow.com first reported the news, and Sherdog.com confirmed the information with a representative from the Clark County Detention Center on Thursday. Trigg was recently released on bond, and his arraignment is scheduled to take place Friday at 10:45 a.m. PT.

So is this completely seperate from the first time he was in trouble for domestic violence awhile back and got fired from hdnet for it?

I think they're somehow related. I'm not sure how law in the US works for things like this, but isn't it possible for him to be "in trouble" but not necessarily arrested until months later?

that's what happened here, these are charges from that incident of a few months back. ^
in cases of domestic violence esp there's a chance that the woman/victim is lying...there can be motivation, but HDNet have already canned him...which I find remarkable. they may have looked at the evidence and talked to Frank, decided he's going to end up being convicted.

I want to say during interviews Trigg was saying that hdnet was being sold or something and the ownership group thought it would be too risky to keep him around.

"I don't want to fight Lyoto Machida," Jones said. "He was my lowest pay-per-view draw of last year.
"No one wants to see me fight Lyoto Machida. I don't want to fight Lyoto again. Lyoto is high risk and low reward.
"He's a tough fighter, but no one wants to buy that fight.
"Between (Mauricio) Shogun (Rua), (Quinton) Rampage (Jackson) and Rashad (Evans), Lyoto was my lowest draw. Why would I want to fight someone where it's a lose-lose situation? "I won't make money on it. And he's a tricky fighter."
When asked if he will agree to fight Machida again if asked by UFC officials to do so, Jones was noncommittal.
"I don't even know," Jones said. "I don't know how to answer that right now."

What's up with all this diva nonsense lately? I like Jones, but it'd be funny to see Hendo KO him now.

I don't get what's so diva-ish about his comments?
a) It was only months ago that he choked out Machida; and
b) He is basing his opinion largely off what he thinks the fans want. If he thought there was some huge demand for a Machida fight, it seems like his opinion would be different.
I don't really see what's wrong with it.

Re: Non-threadworthy MMA Rumors/Quotes/Tweets, etc.
Things Jon Jones has said recently:
1.) I don't want to fight Machida because the fight wouldn't draw.
2.) Shogun getting a title shot after beating Vera has me scratching my head.
3.) I don't want to fight Anderson Silva because it's a lose-lose for me.
4.) Gus is 2 fights away from getting a title shot; he has to beat a striker like Lyoto and a wrestler like Rashad.
5.) Chael Sonnen, the only reason you got a title shot is because of your mouth, and you're not going to be worthy of a title shot at 205.
6.) I don't have to move up to HW because I'm sure that guys like Lyoto will be coming back for their rematch.
...so what the hell does Jon Jones want the UFC to do? Maybe he should do some work hyping the fight so the PPV numbers aren't so low. Saying stuff like this certainly isn't going to boost PPV #s.
I used to be a huge Jon Jones fan and I'm still a fan of his, but I can certainly understand why some people hate him.

There's a difference between a fighter refusing a fight and a fighter voicing his opinion on a fight. In the former case, I can understand the fighter given the right circumstances. In the latter case, I will always understand the fighter. He is allowed to speak his opinion. And that's all he was doing. If you want a champion to accept every fight he's given and then also, WHEN ASKED, lie to people and say he's happy about the fight, as if he were a robot, then I think you're asking for a bit too much.
To put another way, what if after beating Shogun for the title, the UFC decided to offer him powder puff fights, against the likes of Keith Jardine, Tim Boetch, and Reese Andy. All the while, fighters like Machida, Rampage, Hendo, and Rashad got passed up for title shots. Would you want Jones to speak up and say he wants to fight Rashad, Rampaged, etc.? Would you complain if he simply said, "I'm happy to fight Keith Jardine, and I thank the UFC for the opportunity"?
I'm pretty sure if he said something like that, he would be getting tons of crap from fans for "not wanting to fight the best."
NZB2323 wrote:Things Jon Jones has said recently:

Again, he was asked for his opinion, and he gave it. Moreover, his opinion has a very solid foundation. He literally choked the guy unconscious months ago. Add to that his belief that the fight wouldn't draw, and I see his opinion as being pretty reasonable.
2.) Shogun getting a title shot after beating Vera has me scratching my head.
Again, opinion. And again, a very well reasoned opinion. Shogun came off a loss and then beat Brandon Vera. Brandon f*cking Vera, who had one foot out of the UFC going into his fight with Shogun. And if Jones needed anymore reason to be skeptical about fighting Shogun again, he got it when we all saw a slow Shogun beat Vera pretty unimpressively. I really enjoyed the fight. But if anyone watching that fight can't see that Jones would absolutely demolish Shogun (like he did the first time), then you're not being realistic.
3.) I don't want to fight Anderson Silva because it's a lose-lose for me.
Here, I disagree with Jones. It's just his opinion, though. However, if we find out that Jones turned down this fight, then I would understand the frustration with Jones. Especially if the proposed fight was to be at 205.
4.) Gus is 2 fights away from getting a title shot; he has to beat a striker like Lyoto and a wrestler like Rashad.
Again, just an opinion. And can't say I disagree with it either. Maybe I wouldn't be so specific in who Gus has to fight, but I definitely think he needs another fight or two before Jones. He practically has no mainstream recognition to boot.
But what's the big deal about saying someone needs a few more fights. It's not like Jones is going anywhere. Once Gus gets a title shot, he will fight Jones.
5.) Chael Sonnen, the only reason you got a title shot is because of your mouth, and you're not going to be worthy of a title shot at 205.
a) Jones was replying to Sonnen randomly calling him out on national TV. What do you want Jones to do? Not say anything. In that case, have you been chastising Sonnen for what he said?
b) Sonnen is definitely not worthy of a shot at 205. Who has ever gotten a title shot immediately after losing in a title bout in a lighter division? If it's happened before, it's still very rare and it's not much of an insult to say when someone in Sonnen's position doesn't deserve a title shot.
6.) I don't have to move up to HW because I'm sure that guys like Lyoto will be coming back for their rematch.
I don't really understand what he means here. Or maybe you're not paraphrasing it well. Don't know
----
Anyways, it's just weird to me to see people complaining about Jones and his opinion on who he fights after he just had one of the toughest and most impressive winning streaks in MMA history. In the past year or so, he has run through a gauntlet of former champions. It's not like the guy is ducking tough competition or anything. So what's all the complaining about?

Re: Non-threadworthy MMA Rumors/Quotes/Tweets, etc.
GetBullish, my point is that Jones is giving the UFC no option. He doesn't want to fight Anderson Silva, he doesn't want to move up to HW and he doesn't want to fight any of the contenders at 205. Who does he want the UFC to match him up with?
There's no clear cut number one contender, but as a way of hyping the recent Fox card, Dana White said that whoever won the most impressively would get the title shot. Machida looked great, and IMHO he is the guy at 205 who can present the biggest challenge to Jones. A lot of people think that Machida won the first round against Jones. Jones complains that he won't make enough money, but how much was he making when he first started fighting? If he could play a role in hyping the Machida fight, it might sell. If he fought against Anderson Silva, it would break records. If he fought against a HW it would sell. But Jones said that if the UFC stated that Machida is fighting him next, he might not sign the contract. That's wrong.

Re: Non-threadworthy MMA Rumors/Quotes/Tweets, etc.
NZB, I see your point. When you take all of his comments together, Jones is seemingly left without a single opponent. But I really doubt Jones is gonna take some hiatus from MMA after the Hendo fight. I think he's just displaying his frustration (through the form of answering questions that people ask him) about the state of the division. And the state of his division is: 'decimated by Jon Jones.'
I agree with you that Machida looks to be the best 205 opponent for him now. And I highly doubt Jones refuses to fight him. And if and after Jones fights Machida, there's a really good chance that Gus will have the next shot. And if Jones gets through both, I wouldn't be surprised if Jones moves up the HW. So pretty much everything Jones is 'complaining' about may very well end up happening. That's just my prediction though, and if you look at my scores in the Pick 'Em Pool, you will notice that I am not a good prognosticator.
But until Jones actually starts holding up the division b/c of his refusal to either move up to HW or fight a 205'er, I'm going to give him the benefit of the doubt when he voices his opinion on possible opponents.

Re: Non-threadworthy MMA Rumors/Quotes/Tweets, etc.
From http://mmajunkie.com/news/30278/ufc-cha ... a-joke.mma :
First, a word of advice. If you happen to talk to Jones, as I did recently, don't make the mistake of suggesting that, with a win over Henderson, he might clean out the 205-pound division. He has a rebuttal already prepared for that line of thinking, and it is a revealing one.
"Styles make these matchups," Jones told MMAjunkie.com (www.mmajunkie.com) when asked who might be left for him after Henderson. "Phil Davis lost to Rashad [Evans], and I beat Rashad. But that doesn't mean Phil Davis won't give me the fight of my life. Or [Alexander] Gustafsson. He's tall, I'm tall, and he's got long arms. Maybe that would be interesting to see. Or Glover Teixiera. He hits hard. Maybe that would be interesting. Styles make matchups. There's guys in my gym right now that aren't in the UFC that make me sweat and bleed. So you can't say I've cleaned out the division – because I haven't. I simply haven't."
You'll notice that, in Jones' list of interesting potential title challengers, two names are conspicuously absent. The first is Lyoto Machida, who's already been promised a fight with the winner of the Jones-Henderson scrap despite the fact that Jones choked him unconscious less than a year ago. The second is brand new light heavyweight Chael Sonnen, who wasted no time trying to drum up a rivalry with Jones this past week after announcing that he was moving up from middleweight.
Neither fight is of particular interest to Jones, he explained, though for two very different reasons. For starters, take Machida, who Jones described as both a "great challenge" and a "tricky puzzle" from a pure martial arts perspective.
"But as a businessman, the [fight against Machida at UFC 140] had the lowest pay-per-view sales of all the fights I had in 2011," Jones said. "So it's just like, I don't see why it would benefit me to fight him again. ... I have nothing to gain there. I beat him once, and it was the lowest pay-per-view numbers I had the whole year. So why would I fight someone that no one really wants to see when there's all these other guys working their hearts out to get a chance at me? Why do they get skipped [by] a guy who lost already?"
You have to admit that there is a certain unassailable logic at work here. If the goal of a champion is to defend his belt against the challengers fans want to see him fight – and if fans vote with their wallets – then Machida is a bad choice. He also represents a test that Jones passed with flying colors back in December. Machida may have won a single round against Jones, but how motivating do we really expect that to be for one of the UFC's most dominant champs? For Jones, fighting Machida again is like going back to take the SAT after getting a nearly perfect score the first time. There might be some room for improvement, but not much.

Re: Non-threadworthy MMA Rumors/Quotes/Tweets, etc.
I think Dan Cormier, at 205, after the Mir fight would a tall task for Jon.
Cain said that he heard Dan was going to drop to 205 for his UFC debut,
so I think we might see that one.
I still have faith Machida could touch him, but that's still slim, very slim.
Gustaffsson went 5 rounds with T. Silva, not confident in his chance.

I think Cormier would be more than a handful for literally any man on the planet. That said, the dude's internal organs were failing when he was trying to make 211. We have no indication that he could safely make 205, and that he would be himself even if he did.
