Some serious overrating of Nets/Sixers going on with talk of them being possibly 2nd and 3rd best teams in the East with serious underrating of Hawks/Bulls both slotted to either just make or miss the playoffs.....
He grew up an hour away from Philly, and they can give him $20-25 million more than anybody else. What team - that will UNQUESTIONABLY be better than the Sixers over the next 5 years - can even give him $75-80 million?
And in the summer of 2014, when everybody else is getting choked by the CBA, the Sixers (before re-signing Jrue) will have the cap room to add another big piece to a core of Bynum, Jrue, Turner, Allen, Thad and others.
Anything is possible...but I think he stays.

Re: Completed Dwight trade talk II
Even the Celtics could have offered a better deal.
Bass, Green, Melo, Sullinger, Bradley & picks.
Did Orlando lose the numbers of every other GM?
Also Denver got Iggy & Nicholson for Affalo, a pick and Harringtons contract?
Philly get Bynum for Iggy and not much else.
They both did very very well.

Re: Completed Dwight trade talk II

That was my reaction to this trade, just wow. I have no words about this but Lakers made out like bandits again (withstanding basketball reasons) and Sixers/Nuggets did wonderful but the Magic, I got nothing to say at all.
Even know that Lakers have the superstars but they will have to give NBA a very huge paycheck for the LT penatlies that they will have and they still have to get a bench as well (NO Gasol for Smith trade). So at the end of the day, Dwight has been traded and life in the NBA will return.

The athleticism is insane. Just between Lawson/Iguodala/Faried/McGee in the starting lineup. And then you have Gallinari, Chandler, Brewer, Hamilton, Randolph, and even Mozgov/Koufos are good athletes for being 7 footers. Oh, and the best lob passer in the league in Andre Miller throwing half court alley oops to everyone.

Re: Completed Dwight trade talk II
Dwight forced the hand, though.
He basically said: there are only 3 teams that have any chance of re-signing me: Brooklyn, Dallas and LAL.
One that was established, for Orlando it was either let Dwight walk for nothing - which he would do since the extra year isn't worth as much as it used to be - or take the best offer that one of those teams was willing to make. No other team was willing to make a good offer without a chance at an extension - that seems to be the issue with Houston's offer as well.
So they dumped cap (Duhon, Richardson... they should have managed to move Glen Davis too) and got young prospects.

Yup. And the fact he forced their hand...and bit the hand that fed him for so many years, is what will make Orlando fans despise him with every fiber in their being. Its like the Raps with VC...its not that he demanded a trade, you want to leave? fine. We'll never like you again, but you won't be the most hated sports figure in Toronto JUST for demanding a trade. Its the fact he quit on the team, played like CRAP, forced the Raps to have to take a horrible offer, and then played like an allstar again.
In this scenario its the fact he did not relent...he screwed with the Magic time and time again, and he resulted in them getting back one of the worst deals of all time.

Trolling Celtics fans and reading their blogs/forums has been the most satisfying part of this whole thing. God I love being a Lakers fan.

Ron's brother posted a pick of Ron this offseason and dude looks every bit of 230ish with low body fat. For those who want to doubt that. Dude is in some serious shape right now.

dwight got unhappy. so he used his leverage.
orlando would've gotten a much sweeter deal had he been dealt at the deadline in 2011. orlando's bluff got called (by BK/LA) and they were never dealing from a position of power.
they would've gotten much much more had they dealt dwight with guaranteed years on his deal, like in 2010.

John Hollinger @johnhollinger
Based on what I've been told Houston pretty clearly had a better offer -- including a guaranteed lotto pick. Frustrating day for Rox.

this essentially closed the championship windows of San Antonio, Boston and Dallas. delaying OKC and Miami ( though it has closed theirs somewhat since Wade is declining)

Demonstrates the power of Agents in the NBA trading process. I have to believe that the Lakers just always do pretty well by agents.

Why have a lotto pick when you can have Arron Affalo? Because seriously, from what I'm reading, that was the game-changer for the Magic. Arron freaking Affalo.

Re: Completed Dwight trade talk II
But anywoo, since the trade is done, I think we are safe to ensure that Lakers and Heat will be meeting each other in the Finals for the next 3 -5 years. But there is alot of other questions that has be answer from other teams
1) What is the Rockets is going to do now? They been racking up picks, players, and cap space to take Dwight and all their bad contacts. But since Dwight is gone, what would Morey do?
2) I am a Hawks fan, so this question is us. Since Dwight is gone, how that is going to be playing in Josh Smith situation (Hell No, to Lakers fans that still want Gasol to Josh Smith trade to happen), I know that he wants to play with Dwight and I dont think that Lakers will have any room unless SNT. Plus he is a FA this year as well. If the Hawks is going to do a total face lift (much better job than the Magic right now) , Josh Smith might be the next person to get traded.
3) Lakers is going to be paying truckload and truckload of Taxes for this. The question will become if that is the case, would it hurt NBA more because if you want to get to the show, you will have to spend buckets and buckets of money and getting into LT. Miami was lucky that they did it before new CBA but they cant get away with that next time.
Those are my question about this. I think the Lakers made out like bandits but I have to blame Magic for gettting a sub-par deal for this.

Re: Completed Dwight trade talk II
I think the Celtics will go after Josh now tbh. Surely we can offer a better deal than Pau?
Atlanta has a good young core (I rate Teague and Horford) + cap space. Surely all they would want back (if they were to trade) would be decent young players, expiring contracts and picks?
e.g. Melo, Bass, Bradley and picks.
Part of me thinks that this deal will push other GMs into acting, for sure Houston and Orlando and a few others. Domino effect.

Ken Berger @KBergCBS
The first-round pick going from the Sixers to Magic is lottery-protected for two years, top-11 protected in yr 3, top-8 protected in yr 4.

So in other words, its better than the BK picks regardless...
