How do you deal Dwight Howard...a top 3 player, and not get a single good unprotected pick back? Its very likely, and with a somewhat healthy Bynum it is certain that Philly will make the playoffs in the next two years. So its pretty much like saying "ok, if we happen to suck so much we can't make the playoffs in the weak ass Eastern Conference in the next two years...then maybe you can have a late lottery pick in a few years"

Can ANYONE explain this deal from the Magic perspective?

They didn't get any likely lottery picks.

They didn't get a superstar or potential superstar back.

They didn't shed any of their ridiculous contracts.

What in the hell? I don't get it at all. It might be the worst deal I've ever seen.

I believe only the Philly 1st round pick is lotto protected...

Gotta wait for the full details but I think the Lakers 2017 pick is unprotected.

ok true...but it doesn't seem like the other picks will be high picks at all. Maybe if the Lakers completely suck in 2017 Orlando can get a good pick in 5 years? Whats the deal with the Denver pick too?

Ken Berger ‏@KBergCBS

Can confirm the trade sending Dwight Howard to the Lakers has been approved by the NBA.

So it's official. The Magic are the most incompetent set of individuals in the NBA?

I feel horrible for Hennigan than he had to let Alex Martins and DeVos run the show. I'm sure Hennigan would've made a much better trade but Martins and DeVos were pulling the strings and letting Rob take the fall. What a bunch of gutless *****.

the NBA should be enjoyable to the Lakers, and Heats since it's apparent they will meet in the finals. Oh well I will not support the league next year at all.

Vegas Odds:

@RJinVegas

3 of 4 teams benefit on trade: #Lakers. Biggest plus @76ers (60/1 to 30/1). #Nuggets (40/1 to 30/1). #Magic plummet (60/1 to 200/1) - via LVH

Sixers had the biggest jump!

Magic had the biggest drop!

"The Lakers will send All-Star center Andrew Bynum to the Philadelphia 76ers, who also will receive shooting guard Jason Richardson from the Orlando Magic. The Sixers will send guard Andre Iguodala to the Denver Nuggets. The Magic will receive Arron Afflalo, Al Harrington, Nikola Vucevic, rookie swingman Moe Harkless, forward Josh McRoberts, three protected first-round draft picks and a 2013 second-round pick from the Nuggets (by way of Golden State). In addition to Howard, the Lakers will also receive Earl Clark and Chris Duhon from the Magic."

The Lakers are the luckiest/craftiest team ever. Besides Memphis none of their major trades has ended up good for the other team. They WILL ALWAYS be contenders. That Stern veto is looking pretty good right now.

God I hate that. They're the anti-Trailblazers.
