Dwight Howard to Lakers.

Post#1 » by 3960HOOD » Fri Aug 10, 2012 12:29 pm

If this trade happens ill be very disappointed because the Lakers will come out like bandits, again. First the Pau Gasol trade and now this.

The reported deal would send Howard, Chris Duhon and Earl Clark to the Lakers, Andre Iguodala going to the Nuggets, Andrew Bynum and Jason Richardson to the Sixers, while the Magic would receive at least Arron Afflalo, Nikola Vucevic, Moe Harkless and a first round pick from each of the other teams along with the Warriors' secondround pick in 2013 via Denver.

It was reported earlier on Thursday that Pau Gasol would be included in a trade, but sources indicate that he will remain with the Lakers.

apparently the lakers thought bynum's immaturity is more harmful than howard's immaturity. i dont expect much difference in the lakers.

the nuggets on the other hand, the jazz are going to have a harder time overtaking them now.

Howard compliments Gasol's game better than Bynum.

Howard and Nash in the offseason, wow, not bad.

I'm hearing a lot of praise for the Nuggets in this... but to me they just traded a very efficient offensive wing + their sixth man for a great defensive wing who is less efficient on offense. Does it really make them better?

As for the Lakers, they've got a lot of stuff to figure out in one season and there's a lot of pressure on Mike Brown right now. But... damn, they're loaded. Now will they please take Raja?

Another super team... fantastic...
At least Nash, Gasol and Kobe are declining, and last time they unite 4 great players they did not win.
Still Howard is in his prime, Gasol still have 2 good years before declining, Kobe... you don't know, and same with Nash.
Still they are top 5 in their position (you don't know what kind of Nash we'll see still, maybe he will be only top 10)

It's going to be hilarious to watch Kobe still try to be the straw that stirs the drink on that team.

Lakers made out well. Makes sense for the sixers. Nuggets did ok but WTF did Orlando get out of this. Poor trade for Orlando. Orlando did not even get to dump turkaglu's contract in this deal. I would have taken the Nets with a couple of changes.
Top 4 seed in the West!!! Guaranteed!!!

Yeah, it seems bizarre to me that Orlando made this trade after going on and on about how they weren't going to settle for crap and were prepared to go into the season with Howard on the roster if teams didn't step their offers up. Just an abysmal failure from the Magic's standpoint, while LA and Philadelphia make out like bandits.

Well the dwightmare/indecision is over. I'm not convinced this is that great for the Lakers. People for get Gasol sucked last two playoffs, Kobe ran out of gas in the middle of the 2nd round in the playoffs last year, MWP sucks now, nash is 38 y/o and the bench is medicore to put it generously. None of that will change with a Howard trade. I don't see what hype around Howard and the golden boys is. I don't think its a lock they make it out of the 2nd round to be honest.

On the other hand, the nuggets got one of the things they needed. They needed someone to at least bother top wing players like kobe and durant which they got in iggy. He will also provide some leadership especially on the defensive end. Affalo and harrington didn't show up in the playffs the last couple years, so no big lost with them. They still gotta upgrade their outside shooting and add a verteran bigman but overall they look really good.

For Philly; while I'm not a bynum fan, he has alot of potential and desirable strengths. I think they may have something in a couple years. There line up of Holiday/Turner/Wright/Hawes/Bynum with young as the sixth man along with guys like young and j-rich off the bench could be pretty formidable. Still got some holes to fill but they look good so far.

Now is the time for our GM to start working. Teams who lost out on the Big Man bid for Dwight will be shopping can we be sellers.

Does McHale want Al Jefferson in Houston? Does Dennis Lindsey use his ties to that organization to work on a deal?

Too bad Houston doesn't have Scola to trade anymore.

Orlando really blew it on this deal. Got garbage for Dwight.

Dwight makes the Lakers much, much better. Anyone who thinks he isn't going to improve them is crazy.

Jefferson to Houston is almost too obvious now.

We're all Dunzo. Heat/Lakers finals in the end. More prolonged pain and frustration due to a Lakers type dominance and widespread celebration among the half-wits and bandwagon fans. What a bore. F*ck the NBA.

Dwight Howard to Lakers.

Post#15 » by StocktonShorts » Fri Aug 10, 2012 6:28 pm

I'm not buying the Lakers. Nash is almost the odd man out now. He's a pick and roll point guard with no one to pick and roll with. Worst case he plays the Steve Blake role. And what's the Bynum-D12 delta? Not as much as you'd think, plus Dwight can't hit free throws.

They could prove me wrong, but until they do I've got Thunder AND Spurs ahead of them.

McHale's always really liked Big AL and they have been open about wanting to bring in a center. Any trade with Houston is gonna revolve around Kevin Martin. I'd love to get Morris from them as well. Could step into Millsap's former role.

Martin/Foye/Burks
Hayward/Marvin/Evans

Add Orlando to the list of teams that will facilitate this super team BS. I just don't get what they were thinking making this move. Not only did they give in to the demands of Dwightmare, but they made a very formidable super team in the West while doing practically nothing to better their position, while strengthening one of the teams they would have been fighting against for a playoff spot this year.

Bizarre to say the least...

Not sold on this Lakers team. OKC or Utah vs Heat for the next five years

As much as I consider Dwight overrated, I think he's a really solid center next to Gasol. I think the sooner we all accept that as soon as the Lakers start going downhill, they'll simply buy a new team, the better. I hope the new CBA picks this team apart when the tax restrains kick in...but I'm not really expecting it.

Also, can someone explain to me how this is good for the Magic?

I fully realize they didn't want big contracts back - that this was purely a dump and a the major blast in the blow-up-this-team project...but it seems like they could have acquired better future picks for Dwight.
