While Ron's brother isn't the guy to go to for trades, he does know what's going on with his brother. He recently stated that Ron is at 237 with 5% body fat and is in incredible shape. Let's just wait and see.
Artest looked really bad last season. He's in the fast decline. Harrington is a (tiny) bit younger, fewer miles on him, and at this point quicker.
Uh, they're both 32 years old, both with 27,000 minutes in the NBA. One's "declining" from 5 time All NBA Defensive Team, NBA Defensive Player of the Year. The other is declining from slightly above journeyman status....

How so, do you not realize LA gave up the 2nd best player in the whole deal? Philly is the one that got the most value, they essentially got Bynum and Jrich for a lottery pick and an overpaid Iggy

I know Bynum the second best player in the deal but what did the Lakers really give up on their end? and the cap in huge between Bynum and Howard.

Ken Berger ‏@KBergCBS
Lakers' 2015 second-rounder is 31-40 protected. If not conveyed, pick disappears.

why would you need to protect a 2nd rounder?

My whole point is anyone that said they didn't want Howard because of a bunch of BS they kept reading on twitter is/was an idiot.

Why wouldn't you want the second best player in the league? And everyone is overreacting right now, the Lakers aren't unstoppable in the same way that the Heat weren't unstoppable when the came together.

That being said, I hope to see a Heat/Lakers final. Should be fun.

I tried to placate a Celts fan one time by conceding to him that Russell's superior # of titles offset the statistical superiority of Wilt - that Russell was the better player. He SEEMED happy. But strangely enuf, when I thanked HIM for therefore conceding Magic's superiority to Bird.....

Honestly The Lakers losing the CP3 trade for basketball reasons is one of the best things that could of happened to them. The team is a lot better than it would have been with Paul.

So they can trade the other half of it.

Who's the best player the Lakers can get for a 2015 2nd rounder (top 41-60 protected, if not conveyed, pick disappears)?

This will make for a fun season next year... if LA meets Miami in the Finals, I wonder if LeBron will wind up matched up with Pau a lot, that would be pretty amazing. If the rebounding isn't there Miami would have to play Haslem instead of Battier though, which would hurt our 3-point shooting.

Nash - Allen
Bryant - Wade
Artest - Battier
Gasol - James
Howard - Bosh

That would make for one fun series.

Go easy on Hennigan. Hearing Orl Pres Alex Martins likely ran this one. Always good to have non-bball folks make critical decision.

If this is true Hennigan should quit immediately

thats why you can let emotions and personal feelings get in the way of making business decisions.

Looks like the magic were hell bent on keeping dwight out of brooklyn. this deal got them 3 protected picks from teams likely to be in the playoffs for a long time coming. the nets deal got them 4 unprotected picks. even if they didnt want lopez im sure they could have found a team to take him that could have offered somsonething similar or better then harrington/afflolo on bad money.

im not sure you can do worse then minimal talent, protected picks years down the line, and adding salary for arguably the games second best player.

I wouldnt be betting money on Lakers even getting the Finals, they still have to deal with that team from OKC with Durant, Harden, Westbrook, Maynor and others. If they cant deal with them then getting to Final wont happen.

i cant see okc even being competitive with this laker team. nash will expose westbrook and with kobe on the floor you cant really throw sefelosha on him the way they did with parker. isnide, they will get dominated. id assume lakers in 5
