PLEASE LET IT BE FOR HARRINGTON OR SUCH

Pronto was the word he used. He knows where the need is and I think now that they have done this deal they can address the next phase of the plan. Also to me, Harrington won't be around much longer, just another trade piece. You may get your wish.

Flexibility was a word used a lot, and a massive smile came on Rob's face when he mentioned the massive TPE we got in the trade.

This is just the beginning, we will find a few more pieces.

Loved what he said about Harkless. He was the guy we wanted in the draft and had lottery level ability. With the right development we believe he can be a very good player in the league. I agree. So much natural potential. Sounds like a good kid too.

I don't know why people are mentioning JV looking depressed,I guess you read what you want to out of situations. I think his persona is that way all the time, watch his other press conferences. Really relaxed and calm. Always takes a moment to think of an answer. Joked around too. A lot of people here just emotionally upset and want to be angry so will judge everything based on that. To me that was a great PC that showed they had a plan throughout and were not going to be effected by emotion. Maybe after you guys who are blowing your lid relax, take another look.

Liked the comment about when you rebuild you have to be careful to not go too young, you need some solid vets, that is your answer for Jameer being around and he was specifically talking about Aaron Afflalo who sounds like a great guy and very talented player. I think Rob knows what he wants in building right.

What I am pissed about is the reporters instead of talking about what we got, kept talking about situations of players gone (Dwight) and league issues. This was a great chance to discuss why we obtained the players we did. We only got answers on Aaron and Mo.

As I said, the hate mob will be filthy, surprised by the reaction, to me it looked like they were in control and were not gong to make decisions based on emotions, but rather on substance and structure and research. Love the flexibility it brings to our team.

I am pumped about the immediate and long term future. More than I have been for a long while.

Can't wait to see the next move.

+1

Henny had to have known the immediate fallout was going to be bad. Guess what people, had he made any of the other trades with NJ or Houston, you'd all still be crying bloody murder about it. Unless we somehow swung Dwight for Lebron+filler, there was really no pleasing some of you.

We thought Hennigans vision was decent enough in theory, but now that it's finally happening we're going to overreact when we all knew exactly what was coming. Human emotions are a funny thing.

Well, I guess there's not much more to say. I don't know if I can stomach this heart and hussle BS again after being in the playoffs the last 7 years. It will be painful, but football is just around the corner.

I'd love it if Henny's master plan is to use the TPE to somehow create cap space to go after Bynum this offseason! He'd have indirectly gotten Bynum and all these picks/players for Howard making the deal not bad at all.

Outside of like 10 NBA contracts, our TPE could absord anyone, including Lebron.

Being a fan of any team from the perspective of the sport played is the only way to get anything out of being a fan. In other words, supporting this team is going to have to be about basketball, for most if not all who stick around. That's my favorite part of this trade. I tire of the crying, but over time, if you stay with your team, it will be about basketball again, and you will be rewarded when things turn around. Fair weather fans didn't enjoy the 2009 finals run like I did. I know they didn't. They couldn't. And if you need a finals run every other season, or a championship in every five, you're supporting the wrong team.

The bottom line for me is that if you can't get behind rookies and young vets while a franchise rebuilds, you're a fan for the wrong reasons, and you will get very little out this arrangement.

Absolutely, well said.

Hoping the fans that want to leave do so soon. Sick of bypassing their posts telling me about them wanting to do so.

We will enjoy this. As I said, take names, remember when it turns around, who these suckers were. Orlando Magic is my team, for better or worse. I ain't going anywhere.

Even though i'm a vet here i've never really understood the TPE? 17.8 million sounds like a Big number but what exactly can we do with it in general terms?

We can be over the cap and trade for a player who makes this kind of money.

For example, we could trade tomorrow our TPE for Durant or LeBron, assuming Thunder or Heat want to clear some cap.

That could be a good piece for moving up on draft day. For example we trade the sixers 20 pick the gsw 2nd round pick and part of the TPE for a bad contract and like the 11 pick. Accumulating assets and flexibility was the goal here

f a team trades away a player with a higher salary than the player they acquire in return (we'll call this initial deal "Trade #1"), they receive what is called a Traded Player Exception, also known colloquially as a "Trade Exception". Teams with a trade exception have up to a year in which they can acquire more salary in other trades (Trade #2, #3, etc.) than they send away, as long as the gulf in salaries for Trade #2, #3, etc. are less than or equal to the difference in salary for Trade #1. This exception is particularly useful when teams trade draft picks straight-up for a player; since draft picks have no salary value, often the only way to get salaries to match is to use a trade exception, which allows trades to be made despite unbalanced salaries. It is also useful to compensate teams for losing free agents as they can do a sign and trade of that free agent to acquire a trade exception that can be used later. Note this exception is for single player trades only, though additional cash and draft picks can be part of the trade.

Lakers agree to terms w/ reserve SG Jodie Meeks on a 2-year deal for about $3 mill. 2nd yr is team option. Meeks is 37% career 3-pt shooter.

The Houston deal was so much better. We keep LA out of it, get back a lot of young talent, high draft picks and cap space. Yeah they wouldn't take JRich etc, but some would have eventually. Seriously. How could you ship Howard to LA and NOT get Bynum in the deal? Worst trade ever. I'm not one hoping players get hurt, but I sincerely hope Howard's back never fully heals.

I'm down for the rebuild -- but I think Amway should consider cutting the beer prices in half.

Should I get a Afflalo black jersey or blue? Maybe a Nickerson?
