I hope no one was desperate for a guy who stated he would not sign a long term deal with the Rox...

I am sure Morey is on his knees screaming to the NBA gods, Stern, what does he have to please him

The idea was that Dwight would need to leave some $25 million on the table for choosing to sign with another team (part of the "home court advantage" in contract negotiations), which would give Houston a decent chance at keeping him long-term. Not great, mind you, but I'd peg it at around 25%, which are higher odds than getting a Howard-caliber player through the draft or FA. Morey's thinking was sound here.
What's changed the situation for me (I used to be a strong endorser of the D12 gambit) is how sexy our rooks have looked this offseason. Throwing away someone like Lamb for a mere chance doesn't seem as worth it after seeing him ball up the SL, so ultimately, I'm glad Hennigan is a total effing moron.

im glad we didnt get dwight. he did the impossible by being worse than lebron.
finally the rockets can rebuild. next draft could be the 3rd straight year we get 2+ first rounders if we keep the picks. that alone has he hyped up for this rebuliding. all the young talent and potential on this team is gonna be exciting to watch over the next few years

I'm fine with this result, we will be tanking the next 2 to 4 years while Lakers & Miami beat it out with each other.
Morey did good this summer providing us with cap flexibility and good prospect rookies to look forward to watching. Sure he didn't get us that superstar, but this time he cannot be blame for other GM's and that player idiocy. Morey's offer was already overpaying if the recent reports are correct on his final offer.
It's a fact drama-baby "superstars" get what they want, even if they're a bunch of babies.

Sucks to be a Miami fan right now.
Not really:

On the other hand ....

or fans will wake up and realize morey is overrated
Apparently not. I'd expected Rockets fans to get mad at Morey, but apparently you guys really really love that chubby incompetent bastard.
After particularly bad moves by the Rockets I watch this forum and it never fails to surprise me how he can't do any wrong in your eyes. I'd suspect he's been taking advice from McHale, but if you guys love him ....

So you secretly lurk around hoping and praying to see fans of other teams get angry at their GMs.
Guess what, Morey isn't the worst GM out there and he did good this off season.
If you want to take pleasure in reading angry posts and troll, kid, go to the Magics board.

You hire someone to run the team, I think the are call GMs, could be wrong. He finds a deal that gives them everything but the guy with little basketball knowledge makes the decision which is complete opposite of what your newly hired GM found. What a joke but the NBA helped us dodge a bullitThis time I like Stern
I'm not all that bummed that we didn't get Howard either really, but it's pretty clear that something stupid just went down.
But yeah, my point is that the Magic just got $0.02 on the dollar for Howard and Richardson instead of $0.25 (and somehow the Lakers benefited). The owner just employed Otis Smith for years when he should have been fired forever ago, and now just hired a guy that did this?
He looks to be nearly as good of an owner as the man, the legend, Mr. I Employed Isiah Thomas for 5 Years J.D. Straight Shot himself.
But what do you expect from the guy whose brilliant idea was Amway?
Morey 2020.

Only the stupid fans get mad when their GM declines to make a bad trade when no fair/good trades are available.
