My reaction to this deal for Orlando

I still don't think Mitch is done trolling the league. He's gonna go after one more guy. A 6th man.

Dwight is 6'8 1/2" tops. How is this guy listed at 6'11"? Kupchak was like holy **** I'm a bit taller than this mofo, what have I done?

Y'all talking about World Peace / Bryant / Nash like it's 2004 or something.

That's my thoughts as well. Listen, lakers are legit, but bulk of their core is on downside of career... 2 years with this core, max.

Also, no has brought up team chemistry??

It doesn't need to be about how long this core lasts. It matters that despite age, even the old guys are still amazing players...just not MVP level like they were. Nash IMO can make any system work, and Dwight will change their defensive presence in a massive way. No doubt they could be all time dominant.

And then when Kobe, Nash, and Jamsion bow out...presumably you still have Dwight Howard as the focal point of the team and he'll still be under 30. Any team with Dwight is just a few good moves away from being amazing...and its not like the Lakers won't be able to attract star players with ease, as well as pull off amazing trades.

"Hennigan didn’t have the same stature in San Antonio," writes Buck Harvey. "When he left to join Presti, the Spurs thought he probably needed to get out and try something else."

What's funny is that Harrington and Afflalo combine to make more money than Brook Lopez this year, next year, and only make 500k less than him in three years. In the fourth year, Afflalo is owed 7.75 mil and Lopez is in the last year of his contract.

In total, Harrington and Afflalo make 52 million in the next four years and Lopez makes 60 million. With the Nets ability to take on more bad contracts than this completed trade, Orlando is spending more money than it would have with a Nets trade. Laughable.

Harrington will be gone soon though (somehow) and then you're left with AF's contract compared to Lopez's. I agree, its not like they traded for some cheap bargain contract...Afflalo is paid a lot for a pretty good but not great swingman.

Thing is, there are clearly other reasons they didn't want the Nets deal and Lopez specifically. He just seems like somebody they were adament about not taking on..especially for the max. The contract, his injuries, his awful rebounding in 2011, etc. And I just don't think they wanted to deal with the Nets in general.

looks like Dwight will finally get his ring. Like Shaq had to do leave orlando and go to LA also to get his ring. Any franchise big that gets drafted by the Magic will go to the Lakers to get their ring.

Man, Kobe is going to definitely have to teach Dwight how to dress. Get him out of that ugly hipster crap and into one of those nice suits that you always see Kobe rocking when he is injured.

So was Shaq/Malone/Odom/Kobe/Payton (and whoever else I forgot). That didn't equate to a championship.

Championships are won by teams who can meld their play together and execute flawlessly. That's the reason teams like the Spurs, OKC, and even Denver have a solid chance at upsetting them.

I'm a Denver homer - let's be clear. I REALLY like our team.

As constructed, we can challenge the lakers at every position.
Nash/Blake - Lawson/Miller - advantage Denver
Kobe/Iggy - advantage Kobe, but not in a landslide.
Metta - Gallo/Chandler - even to slight advantage Denver
pau/Jamison - Faried/Randolph - advantage LA
Dwight - McGee/Mozgov/Koufos - advantage Dwight, but hack-a-dwight comes into play

The Nuggets possess more depth than any team in the league. Our bench could run with most teams. Miller/JHam/Chandler/Randolph/Mozgov could be the difference. You can wear the old guys down LOL

Shaq and Odom on the same team. That was a pretty famous trade that went down in the summer of 2004. If Odom were on that 2003-2004 Lakers squad we would have had a solid back up when Malone got hurt and everything may have changed
