I still think we could add another knock down shooter at 3

Post#1 » by TarktheShark » Sun Aug 12, 2012 1:30 am

someone who can play spot minutes at 3 or 2 just another wing who can shoot and defend some!

Michael Redd- former member of TEAM USA who was the 3 pt specialist. Had a great game against us last year

Martell Webster- came into the league as a great shooter. Shot well his whole career but had an off year

Carlos Delfino- is a good shoot, and scrappy defender. Big game player as well from his international days.

Ebanks is an iffy shooter, MWP is streaky. I would hate to have Kobe always play 3 if an injury occurred..

Look at all the shooter Miami has on that team

Miller, James Jones, Ray Allen, Battier, Lewis...

We have
Kobe, Meeks

Glock is too small to see time outside of the guard spot

For the minimum/whatever is left of the mini-MLE I wouldn't mind having any of the players you mentioned. We could use another shooter, preferably one who can back up the three.

Agree, Ebanks just doesn't cut it for me and Clark is more of a 4.

This thread was a long time coming. Everyone post available 3's that could be signing for vet min or mini-MLE.

i think T-Mac solves are problems. shooter and primary ball handler off the bench. steve blake will play the role of a spot up shooter off kick outs.

I thought he have already signed with the Bulls, but guess not.

Tmac/peaches are possible for vet min. I don't see Delfino/Webster signing for anything less than mini-mle.
The rest I don't want.

We're done I would imagine, Jamison is going to take most of the back up 3 minutes anyway. If the Lakers were really that concerned about that, Michael Redd would've been on the radar more than Antwan.

We have 10 players signed, and the Lakers can match any offer Ebanks get....so far he hasn't gotten anything yet. But now in the coming weeks we'll see business with the restricted free agents.

But some of the names I saw on the OP's list except Redd, are streak shooters and that is what we don't need. More importantly none are great defenders and defense will be our calling card no matter how many offensive weapons we have now. Defense is what's going to get us over, too many guys here think offense way too much.

Deep, Peaches is the best defender of the bunch, I'd say(good chance I'm wrong). What do you think of him?

Also, IIRC he loves Kobe.

He's useless at the 3. He just can't guard anyone there and SFs have an easier time guarding him on the 3pt line than the PFs. But yeh, he'll probably play some back up minutes as a SF.

I agree with this. We'll win or lose in the defensive court...

But we'll need 3pt shooters to spread the floor. 2 Years ago I had hope of Kobe returning to his old form shooting the 3 but I gave up. I think his arthritic fingers play a big role on that, so he'll never be as good as before so on the starting 5 we only have one good 3pt shooter, and that's Nash.

Considering Nash will be the one with the ball, we wont have outside threats for him to pass to discourage the help... Teams will pack the paint to stop the pass inside . Then we gonna pass the ball to kobe to do his hero-ball then he'll have one good game and 3 **** games and we gonna discuss all the same crap we discussed last season over and over again.

But don't get me wrong, tho. I'm absolutely ecstatic. Last year we had oldman fisher running the point. Nash was a huge improvement for us. Anyway, I think Jamison playing the stretch-4 is gonna help us tremendously in some games...

Oh, and I'm praying for Artest to shoot ~35% from the 3pt line. That would be HUGE! and he can easily do that because teams leave him wide open all the time.

I'd like Delfino, but is he good defensively? I'd rather have a defensive minded 3 to match up with Pierce, Lebron, Melo and Durant. IF MWP can hit that 3 at a decent rate next year i'd be satisfied. I picture him doing what Battier did for the Heat in the finals lol. Well maybe that's a stretch but that's my hope.

They could use another shooter sure but as long as Jamison is in there they're fine. That said I would like to have Webster no question.

The bigger problem is they need a facilitator or someone that can create penetration off the bench.

I'd take a chance on Webster or Delfino.

If Pietris will come here, he's the ideal backup 3.

There is a reason why no one has signed ebanks to an offer, he's not that good.

Terrance Williams? He can penetrate and be a back up 2/3 forget embanks and cut goudelock.
