Can Iggy play SG
I don't know his game very well but he seems to be a SF and we have both Chandler, and Gallo. It would make a lot of sense if Iggy is athletic enough to guard the other teams SG.

Re: Can Iggy play SG
Iggy has started at both SG and SF, and has always guarded the other teams best SG/Sf on defense, so he will be perfectly fine starting with Gallo.

He's a swingman, will be able to play SG next to Gallo and he will also find him for some easy shots because he's a good playmaker. He's not a true scorer but thats what you have Ty lawson and Galo for. He's a great fit for this team.

Re: Can Iggy play SG
He'll be playing SG for the Nuggets and he's 6'6" so his size fits the mold and he's going to be the most complete player on the wing. Though you certainly have a log-jam at the 2-3 spots right now.
PG - T. Lawson/A. Miller
SG - A. Iguodala/E. Fournier
SF - D. Gallinari/W. Chandler
PF - K. Faried/A. Randolph
C - J. McGee/T. Mozgov
The team is deep and that's not even including Jordan Hamilton, Julyan Stone, Corey Brewer & Kosta Koufos. They'll have pieces to trade going forward especially if another player doesn't work out for them, the Nuggets made sure they'll be back in the playoff hunt this year. Right now only 1 spot and that's the 8th seed in the West will be available this season.

Iguodala can certainly play the 2, and in fact he is a great fit at the 2 with Lawson at the 1. His ability to create for others is going to allow Lawson to be an off ball scorer similar to the the Miller/Lawson lineups we've seen before.
As long as you're not expecting him to be a scoring dynamo, he's going to be very fun to watch at the 2.

Re: Can Iggy play SG
When the hell did he even become a SF in everyone's minds? He played SG in college and came into the league as a SG. He's 6'6 and 205 lbs. He's basically the prototypical size of a two guard. And realistically the only area where position even matters is defensively, and he can obviously cover any wing player in the game(plus a good number of PGs), so yes, he will be fine at SG.

He can do either but is more suited to the 3.

Sixer fan trolling the board,
Yes he can play shooting guard as long as he has a guy like Gallinari next to him. In fact I think Gallinari is a great compliment to Iguodala and vice versa. He's going to make your team much better than you expect and I have no doubts that Denver will be in the running for contention out west.

Re: Can Iggy play SG
Probably wont run 10 regularly with everyone healthy. Don't really see Hamilton playing most nights to be honest, especially if it's going to limit Dre to 20 mpg. And I think Brewer would probably get first crack at any extra minutes before Hamilton does.
I bet Andre plays 25-28 mpg, and Chandler is closer to 30. Hamilton, Brewer, and Koufos (or Mozgov) get squeezed out of the regular rotation. Hopefully McGee can play 30-32 mpg, and the rest can go to either Mozgov or Koufos. I also expect either Gallo or Chandler to eat up most of the backup PF minutes, so get ready for the small ball(should be fun. Interesting, but fun).
96 min to be split between Lawson/Miller/Iguodala at the guard spots. 96 for Gallo/Chandler/Faried at the forward spots. And 48 between McGee and Mozgov at center.
And my prediction for everyone's new favorite end of game lineup...Lawson/Miller/Iguodala/Gallinari/Chandler. You know it's coming.

Too bad this Dwight to LA trade happened or else you guys would have had a shot at the west.

Oh, so Iggy's best fit is SG? I thought the fact he was so bulky slowed him down and helped him turn more into a brick wall.

We match up great with L.A.
Ty Lawson's agility will leave Nash in the dust. Nash's jumper will still be falling, but Tyson might be able to use and abuse Nash with an isolation play. Nobody can truly stop Kobe, but Andre is probably a good match-up for Kobe, considering they're around the same size however Andre is much quicker. We have them beat if they're thinking of putting Metta on Chandler or Gallo, hah. Faried will bully Gasol with his interior presence, and Howard vs. McGee will be interesting because they're both extremely athletic. It isn't even set in stone if Dwight's back is a serious issue or not.

What? Iggy is not that bulky, and has always guarded the opposing teams best sg/sf, which is exactly what he will do in Denver.

Re: Can Iggy play SG
As a Sixer fan I was surprised Denver would give up Afflalo. He's a good defender and shooter.
Getting Iggy is a slight upgrade. Iggy is better rebounder and passer than Afflalo. And a little better as a defender.

The problem with Afflalo is that the more he was asked to do on offense the less he did on defense, he is best as a 4th option or so on offense so that he can put more work into defense. but I personally do not like losing him, and I think you can see through reading through some of the threads that many Nuggets fans have mixed emotions on losing him.

I hate losing AA, but I think the defensive upgrade is more than a little. I've always thought Afflalo's defense was a bit exaggerated.

iguodala is a huge upgrade from afflalo. to me afflalo was just an over-paid pipe dream. a nice player but no way worth that money.
iguodala solves alot of problems for denver, the only thing he didnt fix was lawson being 5'8'' lol but theyll figure that out i think
lawson/miller
iggy/brewer
gallo/chandler
fareid
McGee/ Mozgov
thats dangerous but what they should do is try to move koufas or mozgov with jordan hamilton for another 4 that can shoot like harrington could. it was a nice switch from fareids rough and rugged style. u could probably get by playing small ball with gallo at the 4 considering hes 6'10'' but who is he gonna defend... denver turned into a very very dangerous team tho

Re: Can Iggy play SG
I think this is a great move for Denver, I complained all year Collins didn't use Iggy enough in Philly. Karl will get a ton out of him. One of the hardest working guys on the floor and an amazing talent; you can't tell me Philly knew what it was doing with that kid.
